I wonder when you call to make travel arraingments do they ask your smoking preference? I am a nonsmoker.
Do you share a room at the hotel?
I got some thermals today. Winter isn't over yet! -
I think they discuss preferences such as smoking/nonsmoking during orientation. If you have a preference it may take longer to get hooked up with a mentor.
My first two weeks in Milliington I shared a room with 3 others. Now that I am in KC KS, I am by myself unless another female comes in at some point, which I doubt will happen.
I also suggest insulated coveralls in addition to thermals. Be sure to bring rain gear. I got rained on several times while at Millington. They don't stop training for the weather and you will likely be outside longer than in a truck on some days. -
FYI, if your recruiter gives you a shuttle phone number to call for a ride to the motel from the bus terminal in Memphis, be aware that the number is no longer a working number. I waited at the bus terminal from 1830 to 2100 calling every Swift number I had trying to get to the motel. Then when I finally got a message to my recruiter, she got someone there to pick me up. He was a very rude person who acted like it was my fault, even after admitting the phone number I was given was outdated by about 4 months. Other students said they had similar experiences.

#### well i am happy to hear you have made it there. i figure i will call my recruiter again tomorrow morning and see whats going on again.
road dust Thanks this. -
Yeah, me too, LOL. The first 2 weeks were rough. Some students referred to it has boot camp due to the long hours, mental and physical exhaustion, lack of sleep and stress. Had to be ready for the bus by 5 AM, class started at 6 and ended at 5 PM. Some clasroom days were over 10 hours. Had an hour lunch and 2 15 min breaks. Got back to motel between 5:30 and 6:00, tired and hungry with homework to do for the next day. At the range, some days I spent over 8 hours just backing back and forth, over and over, and getting in and out of the truck hundreds of times. My shoulders hurt, my clutch side leg hurt, and my right arm was sore from turning the steering wheel as I backed up. Even the guys were hurting from the repetitive motions, LOL. On the positive side, I had really good instructors, made several good friends, and I passed all the school tests!
