A guy I met at school was also from Missouri, and it was just the two of us in Edwardsville for our road training. He left this morning with his mentor. He said the first day of orientation started with a drug test, then they watched videos on safety, benefits, and getting payed. Hours were from 7:30- 4:15ish, with an hour lunch (which Swift provided) and breaks in between. I didn't hear anything from him on the second or third day, so don't know the rest of the story. This was for the Edwardsville KS orientation. Not sure if they all do it the same way.

thats interesting news. so basicly i just wasted 60 bucks

Not really sure. Just relating my experience and what I was told. Recruiter said since I already had a cdl to use my own judgment, and then she proceeded to tell me why. Everyone else in class had gotten a physical before arriving and then another one on the first day. They were not happy. But I guess they would have been a whole lot less happy had they taken their physical for the first time on the first day of school and then got sent home on their own dollar. If you are sure you can pass a physical, then yes, probably a waste of money. If you are not sure, but have no objection to paying your own way home, probably a waste of money. No one that I know of was actually required to show proof that they had a physical before arriving at Millington. -
my other dot health card expired in nov of this year and they told me that it was not good enought for them, because it was not in the past 60 days. so i went and took another one. and then after i was done with that i had to fax it to them. so as far as i know i am good to go.

Probably so, but if AZ is like TN, you will have to do it again on the first day of class.

I'm scheduled for Orientation next Tues for the Fontana, Ca terminal as they need hazmat teams.
I got my CDL 2 months ago and was trained on a 9 speed at the school I attended. What happens if I'm not familiar with a 13 speed or whatever Swift uses for the road test during orientation and I fail the road test?
Great thread btw.... -
Thanks GBRob. First of all, I have know idea. Maybe someone else does. Originally, I was trained on a 10 speed, then when I went to Swift, it was a 8 speed for road training. A little different but not that much.
