Hello everyone, I have enjoyed reading your post. very helpful. I called and spoke to Tonya at swift asked a few questions like. How much does school cost. She said $3900. Plus $500 for housing.School will last 3 weeks and there is a online course. I hope I have what it takes to do this. I like big trucks.:biggrin_255: LOL. Living on the road is going to be weird at best. Do any of you carry a weapon for protection?

Thanks Nana. I have to admit there have been times when I wondered if I could do it. But then I am such a girl sometimes, LOL, but a girl that likes the big trucks!

I carry law enforcement issue pepper spray, and know how to use it. I have heard tire thumpers make an excellent tool for protection also.

Made through three long boring days of orientation. At the end of the 3rd day, I got on a truck with my mentor. He is a owner /op who is on the dedicated wal mart fleet, pulling reefer. It is good because I can come home for my 34 hour restart, but to be honest, I would much rather be otr. I was lucky enough to get a nice, knowledgeable, and patient mentor, but it has been a challenge on many levels. Probably the worst part for me is adjusting to over night work and sleeping days.
