2 week school! I couldn't imagine.
Swift isn't hiring in TN right now. I was told to check back mid Jan-early Feb. I should be rolling with Werner by then.

Count on it, LOL!!! -
Yeah, it was pretty intense. First week was spent in the classroom studying, getting physicals, and permit testing. Next week was half a day doing backing and half a day taking turns driving. Towards the end of the second week, some were already being scheduled for state testing. There were around 30 students in my class - a record number.
I am actually in MO, but TN is the nearest school. I have been on a waiting list for awhile.JustSonny Thanks this. -
Made it to Millington! But, not by Greyhound bus. Was at the bus station EARLY this morning, waited in line for my ticket nearly an hour. I had a feeling it was going to be a long day when all I could smell was left over tacos and stale jim beam, while crowded in a small space like a sardine. I knew it was going to be a long day when the guy gave me my ticket and said the bus was running late, AND there might not be room for everyone on the bus once it got there. After waiting another hour and a half, the bus arrived. It was only able to take around 20 of the approx 75 people waiting to head east. Fortunately, someone I know was able to drive me here.
On the agenda for tomorrow: physicals, drug testing, and paperwork.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I think I am going to pass on the bus to Atlanta. Get a friend, or one of her kids to ride with my GF to drop me.
Last time I rode a bus was in 1975. Only a 2 1/2hr ride.

Good luck. I went to orientation on the 14th but had to get a medical clearance from a injury 3 yrs ago. I got coded today and I`ll meet up with my mentor tomrrow sometime. I`m waiting for hm to call me back with a time.

Started with the shuttle bus running out of fuel about an eighth of a mile after picking us up a the motel. We all froze to death, for about an hour, while waiting for the driver to get back with fuel. Then, another half hour to get it started again. The smell of ether was so strong, I wondered if we would all fail the drug test, LOL.
At the terminal in Memphis we started out with medical paperwork, then our drug test, then DOT physicals. It does not matter if you just had a DOT physical the week before. You will take another one for Swift. On the plus side, they no longer do the workwell test. The afternoon was spent going over what to expect the next 3 weeks, and the Swift contract.
Unfortunately, I have to go back home to get a medical release from my doctor. What makes it so frustrating is that I ask my recruiter if I would need one and she said no. Got here and the nurse said yes. Out of a class of 35, at least 5 people were sent home for reasons a recruiter could have prevented. Unfortunately my journey back home will be on a bus. Hopefully, I can start again either next week or the week after. -
I called yesterday at another company for addresses and arraingements for my orientation. Recruiter is asking for my driver license number from another state. I had a prehire over a month ago. They are just getting around to it now?
I have to figure out how to get that number.
That is my mission for today.
Hang in there!road dust Thanks this.
