Hey guys, been a while since I've been on. Been on my mentors truck for the last four weeks. It's been going fairly well. Learning lots. He says he is happy with my progress. Even overheard him tell his buddies during the first week that I can definately drive a truck. My mentor is also an O/O with a 2008 KW T2000. Nice truck. Runs really good. Can easily do 65, but his rule is no more than 60. Saves fuel and for safety. Fine with me. I actually feel more comfortable right now running 60-62. I'm sure after I get more time in a truck, the faster speeds will be more comfortable, but right now, I prefer safety over speed.

We have been all over the place, too, but sometimes it seems like we are driving in circles. Been from Columbus to Dallas, Memphis, Newark NJ, PA, Laredo TX, Atlanta GA, back to Dallas, Sacramento CA, back to Dallas. Just got back from a run up to MA and Albany NY. Had some strong runs, but also a bit of down time too. Have had a couple loads that turned out to never have existed. Spent all day in Dallas waiting for one and when we get to the shipper, we find out there was never a load. Man, we were steamed! We've also had a couple loads cancelled, one after we were already hooked up to it! How does that happen? I got hit with food poisening after eating at one truckstop that took a week to get over, and my mentor got the flu that really kicked his butt. He was so sick he had to T-call our load from CA to Miami in Dallas because he couldn't drive anymore. It sucked, but sometimes these things happen. He's feeling better now. Back to his 10 year old self. He is such a kid, but when it comes to driving, he is all business.

Anyway, 4 weeks down, 2 more to go. This is the first time I've had to get home, and will probably be the only time til after training is over and I test out. I will have a different mentor going back out, but I should be fine. My new mentor is my old mentor's business partner.

I've got a couple days to enjoy at home. See Y'all around!

    Remember this post Gearrat?

Sounds like you've now jumped one hurdle by finishing school. I've kinda followed your posts while you've been in school and I think I can say with some certainty that "You are a class act, Gearrat!" My hat's off to you. Keep that positive attitude!:biggrin_25514:
