I made my choice today 1/19/10 to go with Swift. I report to Oklahoma City 2-23-10. This way I will be able to take a small vacation before I hit the road..

How long is orientation? 3 days?

I talked to the recruiter in Memphis. Said they are going to turn loose some dates this Thursday. They will be calling me next week to set a date.

Is that how far they are backed up or you just taking your time getting there?

Rug, my recruiter old me orientation was 3 days, but in actuallity, it was only 2- Tuesday and Wednesday. I guess in most cases, they will usually get you oput with a mentor right after, but some kind of paperwork screw up caused us all to get sent home. Fortunately, they should be getting us out in the next few days.

    Good luck!

Well I am getting nervous. I am past 30 days on my graduation. I am not going to wait for my recruiter to call. I am going to call tomorrow. She said they were going to turn loose some training dates to the recruiters today. She said she would call me early next week.

I have been working everything I can think of. Coventant told me March. I had a connection to a job with FedEx ground. Just got off the phone with a contractor. They just upped it to 6 months. Prime asked for a clearance from a doctor. The doc hasn't faxed it back yet. Gotta call the doc tomorrow.

    Called a carpet hauler, March!

    Water heater hauler, March!

Talked to 2 owner operators on this board March!

440 they tell you when you are gonna be back? If soomone doesn't show have 'em call me!:biggrin_2559:

Still hanging out at the Swift academy in Millington. Been to busy to give day to day updates. Have to get up 0330 - 0400 and get back to room at 1730. Not much time for anything. This is a very fast paced school, with no days off. Testing on backing maneuvers tomorrow.

I called, "sorry you are on the list. If I get a cancellation I will call you.

5 minutes later, "I have a cancellation. February 9th. Memphis."

Rug, congrats! Hope it's smooth sailing from now on.

Screenman, good luck, hope all goes well.

I talked to a Swift recruiter today, regarding flatbed. If I apply, and get approved, I'd go to Greer SC for orientation and the out with a mentor for 6 weeks. So at least my past experience will save me from goong through school again.

I hope to hear on a real good, non-driving, job by this time next week. If that pans out, I'll probably give up any driving ideas for good. If it doesn't, I've a couple of other flatbed companies (more regional) to check out, before I apply to Swift.

ps: To stay on topic, hope everything is going well, road dust. Hang tough!
