We must truly be blessed. Yes we see the $700 per driver weekly take home pay and we are treated with respect on our fleet, not to mention kindness.

I'm looking forward to getting off vacation and back to work actually as I miss our fleet.

I was told by a Swift driver buddy that they are scaling back the Western comfort zones for Western U.S. drivers not wanting to go east, but guys who live east of the Mississippi and don't mind driving south and east the comfort zones are still in affect.

hey I was an mm. Run hard, run legal, deliver early, and don't refuse a load just because you don't like it. Yu piss off the planners, they will make you pay. Good luck and they are just like the military recruiters in this matter. If it aint in writing it wasn't said. You will do fine. Most ex military guys do just fine in this business.

I am suppossed to be Texas to Canada, East PA and NJ South to FL. I haven't been West in a long time. I askd for Memphis West and told either run what I am now or go 48.

I am sitting in NJ right now. They offered me 2 loads out of here. I couldn't make the PU times. Offered me a paper load out of the port of Philly. I didn't have $50 in cash to pay the TWIC escort. I would have to come to NJ and got a company advance on my Comdata card and write a check. By the time I got back to Philly I might have missed my PU time. Friday afternoon on I-95. I wasn't willing to risk a service failure.

Anyone ever been to the Swift terminal in Houston? If you live in the area where there is a terminal, does that increase your chances of getting home when your supposed to or does it not really matter?

Got a message from my DM to call him a few weeks back. Told me that they did away with the 907 Comfort Zone (West of the Miss). He mentioned the issue with not enough drivers wanting to go East. I recall him mentioning that one of the solutions they are looking at is recreating the smaller Western CZ.

    Who knows if it'll happen.

I was only in the 907 because I didn't want to mess with the Northeast. When I asked if I could do the Western plus the South I was told no. It was 907 or all 48.

From personal experience.. I am going to say YES, your proximity to home terminal could make getting home easier. Especially if you live in a high freight area.

I have a HARD time getting to the house. I live 300 miles from the closest terminal. I also don't live in a high freight area. What usually happens to me when I have a HTR in, is my miles for that week go to hell. I'll spend a lot of time sitting while they try to find me something. Like what happened this time home. I drove a grand total of 600 miles this week.

As for the home time itself...

I earned 4 days.. only get 2. Got a load with enough time to take 2 days off. They would not set up a T-call at the nearby Drop Yard. Reason "They don't like to do that too often, not enough trucks to cover the load". Asked my DM if the delivery time could be pushed back so I could eek 3 days out. He came back saying "Sorry, I asked but they said no dice".

    C'est la vie.

    Oh, yes.. sorry..

HTR= Home time request. It lets the planners know when you want to be home.

T-call= Trailer relay basically. You drop a loaded trailer at a terminal/drop yard and another driver picks it up and takes it to final.

Oh, ok, got it....how long have you been with Swift? more good than bad to say about it? TexasNana seems to enjoy it and appears to be able to make roughly $700 a week give or take which is great...Has your take home been similar? do you know anyone who runs out of Houston? given that its a fairly large area I would think miles to average $700 a week would be doable, thoughts?
