Good luck KH, after a year off the road myself I will be starting a new job tomorrow also in Ocala but not with Swift, it sounds like you all have found a great place to call home!! I look forward to continue reading about everyone's adventures, after thirty years of driving it's refreshing to see people with the same enthusiam I had so many years ago!
    Good luck and safe travels.

what exactly does that mean you decided to give up what experience you have to get on with Swift, would they not hire you unless you went back into training or something?

I had some experience but not a lot. Therefore I needed to go out with a trainer. Swift will hire trainees and academy grads in FL.

Hey KH I am going to Swift up here in Lewiston ID with my home terminal being SLC. I was suppose to start training today but, one of the instructors was hurt and I have been pushed to Feb 7th. with oreintation on March 1st and a trainer starting March 3rd or 4th.. Will have to keep tabs so we can compare terms & trainers. LOL

Absoultely my friend. I'll fire you off PM's and you can read my updates on here. It will be very interesting to compare trainers as each has their own different ways. It is like College; each teacher teaches differently. For example, I learn by watching or observing someone. It is how I can drive boats so well and for the coupe de grace; retrieve them and dock them.

I'm not a mentor. I do however help those guys I meet that had crappy mentors! Keep it legal. And grit your teeth if you have to to get off the mentors truck.

Remember the words of Winston Churchill. "NEVER GIVE UP!.......................NEVER GIVE UP!"

OK here is your next lesson. Pack you bag and put it by the door. Call your recruiter every other day and tell her if there is a cancellation? You are ready to go!

They will put you up in a local hotel. You will have a room mate. If you pay the extra you can have the room to yourself. Swift gets a killer rate. It cost me $19 per night.

Do not let your gear be out of site at the terminal! I got my new coveralls stolen. Keep your meds closer!

Guess I gave you some decent advise. I'll get you my cell # if you want to talk.

I am a couple of weeks away from 1 year. Feb 10th.

My salmon that I am cooking in the truck is ready!

    Later!

    RT
