My situation is somewhat unique. Trying to get back into OTR after being a local spotter for 5 years. Was OTR for 6 yrs prior to that. Nobody but Swift seemed interested due to lack of recent OTR experience. Insurance, I know. Funny how so many will take a new grad but can't touch an experienced driver. No way am I going to go back through school to learn how to drive.Been approved for Orientation, just waiting for a slot. Comments welcome

Follow up to my last post. Would any of you prefer a grad in the cab with you or me with no preventables or incidents? 6 yrs OTR and 5 yrs bumping the dock? Drug free? Up on all the industry's latest info via Sirius/XM, trade mags, online subscriptions and family member who is OTR? A 'virgin' CSA 2010 PSP? Clean MVR? I even look half way decent.
Just don't have 6mos/1 yr recent OTR

Tiger- you asked about the "work well" test.... I just completed orientation 2 weeks ago in MN, and there was no "work well" exam. You will have a DOT physical and drug test on day one. As long as you don't have any significant health issues you will be good to go. FYI Swift HR completes additional background checks on you while you are at orientation.
So far, I am very pleased with Swift. Their equipment is in good condition, they have enough freight to keep most people moving, and they provide the prepass/ezpass for weigh stations and tolls. On the last load, we only had to pull into 2 weigh stations, and it was a 1900 mile trip!tiger58 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Well my recruiter called me and told me I was scheduled for orientation on the 14th. I am very excited about joining Swift and going through training. I am driving my car up there.
KHxlsdraw, Big Don, Spacecoast and 2 others Thank this. -
Sounds good KH. Best of luck man!
OK now that just isn't right. They should have waitresses to bring the coffee to you. Now I can see walking down the hall to take a whizz. It makes the class room smell much better if you do it down the hall. -
They did away with the workwell right after I had to work my tail off in order to get into shape and pass it. *grumbles as I walk off*

My orientation list includes the work well. Could you pm me your number so I can ask you questions please.

I could care less about the workwell. I nearly got everything packed. I plan on leaving for ocala around 2PM to avoid Orlando rush hour.
