I agree common sense is needed sometimes. I brought a load of tower internals for the refinery towers from tulsa to Galveston. They were draped in heavy Guage plastic then shrink wrapped and then crated in 4x4s. Shipper at first said no tarps and my dispatch said no tarps. As I was securing the two drivers ahead of me told me that the shipper just said they do need to be tarped but they left without tarping so I figured they were messing with me. As I finished securing my dispatcher called me and asked if I was tarping the load. I replied I am now. He then tells me the broker called because a driver was refusing to tarp and pissed the shipper off. I told him it wasn't me this time.

When I got down to Galveston it turns out I was truck 4 of 4 on this load and guess how many were tarped. Just me. I asked the customer why the tarps and they told me they weren't needed. These pieces go inside the towers and get bombarded with worse chemicals then you would ever find on the road.

Ahhhh another wonderful day in the life pulling a skateboard.

I know there are a few shippers that just say tarp every load. They do that because it's easier than them actually asking their customer what they want. They also do it so they don't have to listen to the driver who has to tarp whine "why do i have to tarp, that last driver didn't tarp, and it's the same stuff"! Some drivers just don't understand that the end use often dictates whether it needs tarped. Not what it looked like at the shipper.

That's what I tell people no such thing as keep dry unless you put it in a van.
They accepted their rust forming pipe and stored it outside.

Load didn't pay much but compared to the rest posted last week it was good @ 2.35 mile.
    275 pounds.

A lot of tarping is done for security anytime it's an issue about tarp or no tarp I have the shipper sign off on the BOL before leaving
