Well that explains why there is a wait. If I can't get in by next weekend I'll switch to flatbed then 6 months later switch to tcd. Seems that will be the only way to actually get into orientation.
-
Do what I did... Sign up for flatbed, do the barn for 2 days, then ask to switch because it's too much for you.
Of course, when I did it I didn't originally plan to do TCD, but that's how it worked out. -
For me that will never be an option. I just would never feel right if I ever did something like that. If they don't have an opening for me this coming Monday I will go into their flatbed division. I've never driven a truck and I wanted to start with TCD for a year or so to see if I liked it then switch to flatbed if I didn't like it. Rather than start with flatbed and switch to TCD then switch back to flatbed if I didn't like it. So I'll just have to go whatever route I need to! Maybe God is trying to tell me something, because I can be stubborn at times! lol

I'm in kind of the same boat. Approved, but waiting for an orientation date. I have a conflict where I cannot start before 7/28, but I heard the same thing with regard to the constraint on trainer availability. Originally I gave the recruiter the option of either Glass or TCD based on where the company had the biggest need, but that seemed to be more confusing than helpful, so I ended up asking to be put into the Glass queue.
Having run reefers out of Omaha to both coasts, my read on Maverick is that they're worth the wait. That being said, I cannot wait to get started.
BTW: Where in SW OH are you? I'm in Anderson Twp. on the east side of Cincy. -
I live just north of Dayton in Miami County.
I also think Maverick is worth the wait. Thing is I don't have a job right now so I financially can't wait very long. I am still waiting for my final paycheck which should be large considering it will include all the leave I haven't used (both sick and annual). I don't really get sick so hardly ever do I call off unless I absolutely can't move so I have a hefty amount of sick leave accumulated over ten years. Right now every time my recruiter calls I hope to hear "we have an opening for orientation!" Instead of the "sorry nothing available yet....". I know I will get there eventually, the wait is killing me though! I'm not use to just sitting still, I'm used to constantly moving around for several hours. -
I think I know that area! LOL
-
Jxu, I know you know that area! We are practically neighbors! LOL
Who knows if I choose flatbed you just might see another flatbed parked next to yours in that parking lot you use. Or if I actually get into TCD there will be a reefer parked next to your truck! LOL -
Is this going to degenerate into a Bucs, Flyers, Bearcats, & Muskies debate?
