Based on my first week I can see why RDTCs reputation precedes it. I have my CDL already, and some experience, but if I were a brand new student going after my license, this is a choice school.
Did you apply with Rhoel or Millis Transfer? -
it's hard to say, at one time crst was sending their students to the cr England school in miria loma,ca
as far as not being paid...that depends if you go in to the negative on your pay check. I was never in the red. but some that didn't get miles didn't get a paycheck. -
I'm thinking about going to work for C.R England as a new driver with no CDL or prior experience. I'm reading through this thread post by post (not skipping any either) and am seeing a lot of back and forth posting from people who have had bad experiences, as well as people who have had positive experiences, though it seems like the people who have had positive experiences are fewer. I've also seen a lot of people warning against the lease program, which I can understand. I think I'll do solo or team for a while before going near that lease program.
Do drivers get enough miles and what not starting out with this company? I just want to make sure I'll get enough work. I'm in no way interested in getting rich, but I'd settle for 400 a week.
BTW Carrottop, is it possible to request you as a trainer? Just wondering. -
btw for me to come out here away from my family to earn a living, I needed to make double than my last job almost tipple. I was a meat cutter at publix making $ 14.50 an hr
don't settle for 400 a week that's about what you make in training. -

My name is Mike, I have been a truck driver for over 12 years now. I'm 54 retired from the U.S. Navy. I have experience with flat bed, refer box, dry box, port containers and food tanker. The company I have been with for the past 5 years is going under so its time to find new digs so to speak. I applied with CRE to be a Co. driver a week ago and I am scheduled to leave virginia and go to B-harbor Indiana 03/12/2011 via Greyhound. I am told by my recruiter that I will attend a 4 day orientation but I'm not too clear on what happens after that. She told me that she was penciling me in for the regional routes out of Smithfield Va. which is only 25 miles from my home 20. Home time on the weekends. This sounds like a pretty sweet niche to me. Rate of pay is 0.38 cents per mile. However she could not quote me the average miles for that region. I have 2 questions I'm hoping you can help me with.. 1) Will I have to ride with a trainer after orientation? If so, for how long? 2) The E-mail I got from her mentions that on the health exam blood pressure cannot exceed 140 over 90. The last time I had it checked 11/2011 it was a little high 143 over 88. would this disqualify me? If so am I now stranded in B-Harbor? Thank you for your time. -
orientation is , physical, paperwork driving test, backing eval, paperwork, did I mention paperwork ? lol
IF your worried about your blood pressure just go to your doctor and get a check up and make sure you get that paper from your doctor stating your under their car if you get meds for that. I believe if it's just a little elevated they will let you lay down or retake it.
out with a trainer....it's a minimum of 10 days for you cas of the exp. it used to be up to the trainer if you could get off sooner, but it is still up to them if you need longer. if you feel the trainer is just keeping you on to roll miles just talk to the tc about that. but I would just introduce yourself to the trainer and tell them you were hired for the smithfield acct and they need you there asap. if the trainer has a student already that could work also giving him more time to work with them and you could do your thing. but if your currently with a company for a length of time I don't see why you should have to go out with a trainer at all. but they change stuff alot.
If you can get a pro star...snag it my truck there was a cascadia but with this new company I'm with i'm in a pro star and I'm loving it. I miss my 13 speed this 10 speed sux. lol
good luck to you, and yes I do miss working there. every time I see an England truck I go to wave and realize I don't work there any longer. but I really do like the new company I'm with. I'm home more cas thats the way the freight goes you leave out from greenville,sc and come back to SC.
o and they will get you back home If things don't work out your not stranded in burns. but fail a drug screen....that's another story. -
hey does anybody have any info on slc facility...i am leaving for on the 4th of dec....like others i have read alot of bad with some good on this company...for some reason though ever since i drove a straight truck i have looked at this company...my other question is about how much money does one need during training to keep in their pocket...i was told around two hundred total...cause we would get paid in about three weeks from day one....thanks
