FYI, no one logs in orientation at Stevens. Once they are hired, they are required to log waiting to be dispatched.
If they are in class, they log line four. If they are hanging around drinking coffee, they log line one.
Just like real life.DenaliDad Thanks this. -

It's not just about "the miles," though they are important since drivers are paid when the wheels are turning, most of the time. It's really all about the totality of the circumstances, as they say in the investigative business. Taking only one factor as the deciding factor can be risky.
So as soon as stevens can factor in anything more than low pay extended periods between hometime and soom benefits. then the decision should be too not work for this company. -
I make 42 cpm, get home when I want and have benefits at Stevens. Wheres the problem?
-
Oh wow thats awesome! Now if you want to compare apples to apples. If you were a company driver how much would you be making? .28 or .30 cpm? Hometime? Every 5-6 weeks? Benefits? Stevens contributes how much?
-
42 cents a mile,
NOW you have me interested.
That is Great money for a new driver.
I heard driver pay was going up.
Please tell us more !!! -
apples to apples? why limit the discussion to being a company driver? every driver has the opportunity to qualify for the leasing program and lease a truck. its a choice. as a company driver i would be making .29 cpm get home every 4 - 6 weeks and would have benefits where stevens contributes close to half for medical ins and such.
Yes it is great money. Especially for a new driver. I run a profitable business. Something many people on here (especially ones that never worked at Stevens) said was impossible Its actually pretty simple. Run your available hours. Dont sit around playing video games. Get your loads there ahead of time. Be proactive about getting unloaded early if possible and getting a new load assignment.
Keep your accelerator foot off the floor board so you maintain a good MPG and control your expenses. Watch where and how much fuel you buy. etc .... -
What amazes me is that folks think what you just wrote is some kind of magic known only to the select few who have been taught the secret handshake in the secret room.
Everything the Corporal wrote is logical and absolutely how ANY business stays in business in challenging times. As they say, it ain't rocket science, just good sense.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this.
