all i see is people talking bad about any cdl training company. are there any good ones? if not, where do you start? if i could just jump in a truck and start driving it without getting into trouble, i would. but i cant. i need to start somewhere. what are the best options for getting my cdl with no pre-training? work at walmart as a greeter instead? so many people seem to have issues with the cdl training companies. well, since your a rookie i see that happening, wherever you go and for whatever you do.

I started looking at this forum since November, and reading threads from drivers who started and completed a year... you might find the following list of companies interesting... the reading is up to you... my recommendations for what I have read:

    1) don't begin broke (if you can help it) it seems like 2k savings cash minimum
    3k better.
    2) don't begin with a bunch of BILLS... if you can help it --> see #1
    3) have health issues settled - dental - sleep apnea - blood pressure
all these can be dealt with before you apply with time, diet, etc...
    4) have legal issues settled - know your dmv record 10 years any possible parking tickets, etc.. BEFORE YOU APPLY

It seems to me, that being in a hurry does not pay off very well... if you do this right... you may be able to be hooked up from orientation to trainer through this forum... it is theoretically possible -- and you could save yourself TONS OF GRIEF and odors.

The thing is that in the threads you will read people that were surprised by these issues and became desperate and had the added pressure of having to perform, deal with being with a NASTY mentor, get a CDL, make little or no money, and adjust to a new life style...

SOME Interesting companies that train... :

Swift, Pride, Roehl, Central Refrigerated, FFE, Prime, Millys, Mays... Watkins and Shepard (no trainer... for the :biggrin_255:)

Go to the "trucking company Dac report" part and they are on alphabetical order

I am not putting them in any particular order... SO DON'T use THIS to bash me..

For what I can tell, it mostly will end up doing where you live...

Read the threads and come to your OWN opinion...

    All the best
