TMC looks and sounds like a great company. Found some really good YouTube video's on TMC, hosted by AK49BWL

My trainer has a 379 that he had been trying to keep from turning in. Says he's not a fan of the new 579s because they aren't a 13 speed

So if my trainer has a 579 is shifting points the same as the 379. Raising 200rpms for down shift shifting at 1300 rpms for up shift and 1100 rpms for downshift?

Its going to be a bit more of a spread between gears. Should probably be about 350-400 RPM difference between the 9 and 13 speed. If you shift the 13 without using the splitter, its a 9 speed so just think of it like that. Did you ever skip shift going up or down? I would all the time when I was empty both up and down and would usually do it downshifting loaded. I also shifted at much different RPMs, no 1100-1300 for me! You will figure it out, if you can drive a 13 speed, a 9 speed will be easy peasy!

Orientation is over, tomorrow is the final day of some paper work, training critiques and some tying up a few things then we get our travel arrangements and should be on the road by 3pm to head home. It's been a long two weeks, but well worth it. Now onto the 5 weeks of training with my trainer. I will still pay on this thread do not to clutter up with multiple threads over the same thing.

So far my trainer seems to be a good dude. Only spoke with him here at the hotel, but listening to his way on how he runs I think things are gonna be great.

Do most people go home and meet the trainer from home or link up with the trainer in Des moines?

It kind of depends on where your trainer is that week. Most of the time it's probably a 50/50 split of meeting you there, or you being home. A toss up really.

The cummins has a wider rpm range then the CAT. The peek torque area is much wider so having less gears isnt such a big deal

The way it was explained to me was they automatically assume that the trainee is going to their home of residence after orientation is over. If you are going someplace different they need to know, If you would rather stay at the hotel and leave out with any trainer that is in Des Moines, they need to know. However, that isnt always a possibility. Im told my trainer is one of the best out there, and he lives 86 miles from me. Others had trainers in their hometowns, and others have a 175mile drive to meet theirs. Its really based on where you live and where the closest trainer lives. They try to match you with someone who is of similar interests, and also based on what you request. I told them I didn't care if my trainer was a smoker or not, that as long as Im allowed to use my vaporizer. I prefeered someone who listened to classic, hard rock, or heavy metal, and absolutely none of that bluegrass ####. Yesterday we filled out some paperwork for our paychecks, our training critiques. They also issued us our traveling accommodations. For those of us who went home, they put us in a rental car with 2 others and sent us on our ways. It was a 7 hour ride home for me. Another hour for another guy then the last guy had to drive on through to Delaware. So he was looking at close to 15 hours or so.

Also good news for anyone looking to join TMC, you no longer have to take a bus ride to get there. They are now putting you guys in rental cars to bring you out. Seems its cheaper

Yea loading each person on a 200 dollar bus ticket adds up quick. At least that's how much mine was. Surprised they waited this long
