I just say after a few months just so you can prove yourself. I stated earlier in a post that the first 6 months, at least when I was there seemed to be a test.
I think that 6 months that everyone talks about its the time that a lot of people have to have to find their rhythm at how to do things in strapping and tarping plus the paperwork. My trainer keeps telling me that if I do things the way he's racing me, that I'll be just fine, all I will have to do is get my work efficiency up.
So we got to the receiver Dayton superior at 730, were asked to pull inside the building and untarp and unstrap, guy is obviously not American, his English is very broken, we get there ahead of a Mercer driver who was waiting outside the gate. About an hour later were unloaded and my trainer goes to get his paperwork signed, the dock worker starts ######## cause we were an hour and a half early. He's ######## cause the Mercer driver was scheduled for an 8am unload and we were due for 9am. He says "you unload early, you got me, you got me this time, but you no get me next time, next time you wait" was funny ####
If you have to ask, please choose a different industry. Preferably one that your lose of control wont crash a 80k truck into my families car. Why easier said then done? I've never done drugs. Never even smoked weed. Its not that hard. If you have drugs for pain management, some are aloud with a prescription, but many have side effects that can make driving an 80k truck unsafe. In your PM you say you will quit. I'd like to see you quit and stay off them long before you consider trucking. If for medical reasons, i don't judge you for taking them, but it is unsafe to use them in this industry.
Anyways...... I'm home for the weekend. Was a really good week. I finished my week with a little over 1900 miles, the truck made around $5300 in revenue, I drove on all legs off the trip with the exception of the first 150 miles, and 450 of the last leg due to my trainer wanting to get home asap. Had that revenue been towards my truck that would've meant around $1100 to me for a net payday at starting percentage.. Overall not bad for a 62mph, elog truck that so many ##### about.
I'm with Richter, if you have to worry about the drug screen, go work in some other industry. Preferably one that won't affect me or my job.
Well our week started on a slow note. Our load of 3 aluminum coils were due at precision strip in minster ohio, we got here at 930am, our appointment was for 1030, 2 of the coils were off loaded at one plant, then we had to drive across the street to get the last coil taken off. It's currently 1245... I guess it ain't all bad, weather today its nice. Our next load is loading at Owens corning in Tallmadge Ohio and is heading to Staten island New York, due in at 8am. No parking, and no earlier than 15 minutes prior. Should be interesting how this plays out.
