There's nothing wrong with that. When you're solo though, if you get a late dispatch, and need to be there by 0800 next day, you're going to do with it as you please. I've retarped those loads, especially in st Joseph, but if I'm there at like 1400 and need to be to garden city Kansas or some crap, I'm going to move my butt. As a trainer it's easier I guess.
There certainly isn't anything wrong with it no, but there are times when I look at it and it's a perfectly good tarp, but he doesn't like it because it's got a couple of wrinkles. Last-night we was on our way to New Hampshire and around midnight I hit a wall. I drove 480 miles of the 608 for the trip and was beat to ####. So I pulled off and he took over to get us within 50 miles or so. We ended up sleeping on an on ramp just south of the Massachusetts state line on i91. Was rather quiet without all the other trucks around us at a truck stop with their engines our refers running. Place we're heading to is a job site for a park restoration. Should be pretty easy unload.
We dropped our loss of Griffin pipe in New Hampshire and thought our next load was going to be a Lowe's load...well that was wrong. It's a load of lumber from Vermont to New Jersey. Pretty sure our load after that will be another aluminum coil going back to minster ohio for precision strip. This run into Vermont has done really nice scenery.
Made it to our drop in New Jersey last night around 8pm, was a decent run of 300 miles. We got here early enough that we walked over to a local Italian restaurant and grabbed some decent food. Woke up this morning about 7am and was told at 730 to pull around to the docks, they unloaded is an hour and a half sooner then their own hours. Good for us, because our next load is a run over to pennsauken new jersey to get us home and then it goes to Morton illinois for Monday delivery
So how much is percentage kicking mileages behind in your 4 weeks? They still have you keep track of that, right?
Yeah they still have you keep track of that, but I knew coming in I was going to go percentage. Talking with other drivers and several John Deere dedicated drivers mileage mostly only pays if you are on the Deere dedicated. We've only had one load that would pay more than percentage and that was only by $10 or so.
Shoot, I do percentage on Deere. The only time it pays better is when you're bouncing back from Tacoma with an empty rgn haha. I figured most people would go straight percentage. The opportunity to grow your percentage with performance is greater than mileage. Or so I've seen.
