Well our load to Tampa went off without a hitch, the outbound load was what blew ###. We bounced down to Bartow Fl for a load of galvanized steel floor pans for a job site in western Alabama. The name of the place was Epic Metals, and the only thing Epic about the place was that the temperature was 114 degrees in the sun with 80% humidity. We got to the job site this morning without issue, but due to the complexity of the backing maneuver, my trainer wanted to handle it. He had to turn around by backing into the job site then going back to the gate they wanted us in, and then back in off the left side rather than a blind side back. It was also under/through the partially standing structure to get the load onto the back side of the building to unload via crane. Again, the only thing horrible about this day, was the 98 degree day with 75% humidity. Our next load come in within 10 minutes of our empty and its a load of lumber from a lumber mill 20 miles away going to Hamilton Ohio. Great for us, because were heading home after we off load.. Even better is its only 565 miles from point to point, and hes bouncing home empty since hes off on monday for a dr appt. I on the other hand will be in Des Moines taking my road test and finalizing my paperwork to get my truck.
At this point I dont even give a #### what truck I get. Training coordinator says some of us will get our choice, others may not. Personally I dont care. So long as it runs strong, dosnt cost me a bunch of time on breakdowns, as long as I can make money with it. I am hoping I will have to go to another terminal to get my truck. Id rather not go take a load out of SSAB like so many do. Im told it sucks to go there. If it happens it happens I just want to get to making money asap.
My TMC experience.

Ssab is what you make it. Some loads pay real good out of there, and some are very good. The thing that really sucks is when you have to get rid of good equipment to get the load. Rainy or snowy days suck. Make sure your trailer coming out is in good shape. I've had some battles with the dude who checks them over...not sure if he still works there, but he seemed to check the hell out of my trailers, but when I picked the trailer up, it would be missing lights and such. So we had it out. I guess you could say I had some meetings with management about it and we resolved the issue.

Those same day loads to Caterpillar in Aurora IL are nice!!!

I do hope whatever DM I get is a decent one that has good load planners working for him. From what ive seen with my trainer, that is the biggest key to success with TMC.
-
You are correct, and hopefully your DM will fight for you as well. I'm sad cause I just found out my manager quit and went back to driving. He's the main reason I was coming back! Hopefully his replacement is trained in well when I get there. Remember, building a good reputation with the managers really helps.

Look at Tom Rubal I think is his name, thats the DM my trainer has, and always looked out for him.

I'm on Deere once I get back...Or so I've been told haha. Name sounds familiar though.
