If there's no line, loading is fast. They tarp for you and you throw the straps over it. Just be sure to use good edge protectors, and don't tighten too hard haha. The tools for the edge protectors (plastic pipe with clip edges) to put them up on the load are very handy. Be sure to check one out at the counter. Just bring your BOL in and they hand you one.

For the pipe to put on the edge protectors, I made my own and carried it with me. You may go pick up septic field pieces in winchester. I only did that once but the pay was good. Silver grove is nice to pick up at. Maybe you will get one of the loads going into Chicago off western Avenue!
-
Luckily I haven't had to go into Chicago like that. Yeesh.
-
I did that load once before. Now I see those guys there almost every time I drive by. It's super easy to get to and not horrible to get into. It's right off the Kennedy, 90/94. You get off at Western and go north like 6 blocks.

Better than allied tube? Haha
milskired Thanks this. -
My first two loads last week didn't pay much. I was told that they were loads just to get us home for the weekend. I'm hoping this week is the start of something better for me and my family
-
You going to be out two weeks or home every weekend? I mean, Ohio has a lot of good freight, so it shouldn't be bad. My buddy lives in Cincinnati and did well before being a trainer and such.
-
Im going to go home weekly for awhile. That will allow me to slip into it and still get time to get away from the truck. Its definitely hard being solo. But i also see why trainers make so much more than a regular company driver. Trainers with a trainee can and do get tarped and strapped or chained faster than a solo does. Yeah theyve been at it a while, but with 2 sets of hands the menial things take less time. So its definitely conceivable that it would be faster.

Yeah, you are on point with that. I also have my own "routine," so one is better than two cause I'll get too anal if someone else is doing it as well. Though, it is super nice to have help every once in a while. Especially in the winter.

Hey Gunner, Thanks for posting this up and giving a little insight as to how it's been during the training aspect all the way to getting your own truck. I'm a week out from completing school and I have 5 pre-hires and TMC is one of them and I've always been drawn to them and haven't heard a bad thing about the company. I had my CDL 20 years ago and drove for CFI for a bit but went back into the Military and retired after 22 years. I'm due for a career change. So now that I'm caught up now and have a few questions that maybe you or Battle Born might answer. It's mainly the routes, I live in Tulsa, Ok and was wondering how the regional routes are set up around this area.. I've got to make a decision in the next week and it's a tough one. But definitely appreciate you taking the time to give us much needed information.
