    Gunner.

Thanks for all the informative posts, they gave a lot to think about. Are you allowed to drive your personal vehicle to orientation? I thought I read somewhere that was a no-no.

Some of the guys did drive their own vehicles to orientation. If you want to do that, youll get reimbursed, but youll also want to inform the recruiter your intentions. Youll also have to understand that there is a chance that youll get put with a trainer and leave straight from Des Moines. The chances of that are small, but its all dependent on where you live, and how close trainers are too you. If you end up driving yourself youll be pretty popular with the rest of them. Theyll be asking you for rides to the store and stuff.

I see a number of TMC rigs in my little part of Ohio. It was job posting for a local position with them that brought me to their page. Hey, if I'm heading out to the store I have no problems with hauling passengers. But this will be a very budgeted trip so I don't plan on wasting too much fuel being a taxi service..

Based on the luck I have been having I don't see that happening..

Given where you live, it shouldn't be hard to get you a trainer.

I always have my car down in Des Moines. I was always on my own till a buddy showed up. I loved it cause I didn't have to wait on the van to be fixed or turned in. I also live within 4 hours of there too.
