Im just curious what exactly my excuses are? picking up a preload that was overweight? sitting at the shipper? when you tell the people they say either that's flatbedding or apologize. lack of willingness to do the job? how so? I know what my job was and could tarp and strap just as fast and as good as everyone else at the shipper. I also could drive the truck 62mph just like everyone else. You must be used to working your ### off and doing extra unpaid work because of the military.. I too am a vet and refuse to be under paid. If what im saying isn't true.. look at the driveline computers in the terminals and the termination reasons on why people quit.. long hours and low pay or something around those lines...
My TMC experience.

Overweight trailers happen, its your job to make sure it's right. Sitting at shippers or consignees waiting to load or unload happens everyday in the job, not just tmc. Its called detention pay.and you get it after sitting for an hour and 30 minutes.if you never sent in your detention macro, thats your fault. You was also informed in orientation that if something minor went wrong with lights, or low fluids, you would be responsible for fixing it before you drove. If you didnt want to do that, then that is your fault. You have a lack of willingness to do the job, end of story. Sorry to say it, but thats trucking, and I'm sure that you will not find any other companies that will not tell you different. As far as pay goes, yeah its annoying to have to take a 500 or even 600 dollar load every day, but the fleet average is 3200 to the truck, and if you go home each week, well then you arent gonna be getting those high dollar loads. Again, your lack of willingness is your downfall.

whatajoke1,
Listen if anyone has a legitimate gripe against TMC it should be me. I went to orientation in 2010 and was sent home on day 2 or 3 because I have a VA disability and my doctor was out of the office until the following week so I could not get a letter written up in the time that they wanted. Actually I was told they would give me 24 hours to get the letter and 4 hours later I was sent home via bus. They knew all about my disability because I disclosed everything to my recruiter and they said I have no issues. I have a TBI that made me lose some memory while in Iraq in 2006 they took that as I have constant memory lose even though my VA decision letter stated otherwise, but after doing something else for 4 years and being pissed at TMC, I am ready to pay for a refresher course and head back to Des Moines, IA and try again. Trucking is what you make of it and you have to have patience with the company until you prove your worth. Also confidence in yourself that when you are having crap weeks that you can show them how good of an employee you are that they will want to give you the outstanding loads. I think quitting was a BIG mistake on your part.... but who am I to judge anyway????Gunner75 and bubbagumpshrimp Thank this. -
Good luck going forward Gunner. -

I don't have to prove my worth to anybody. AND IF I did have to prove something what's the 5 weeks and the week of driving training for? What did they give me an award for? Being the biggest sucker? I'm a truck driver. My CDL license is what's making them money as well as myself. Getting the truck from Point A to Point B safely is my job. Not building sh it at the shipper with a hammer and nails... not constantly fixing the truck. When you get into flat bedding you understand that there is going to be work outside of driving the truck and you accept this by way of bigger compensation. Why would I do flatbed work for the same pay I could make driving a box van?

Well then you sir have nothing more to say here. Go drive for the likes of Swift, they could use another steering wheel holder such as yourself. Or how bout Western Express. Im sure the could use you.
Fact is you are going to be nothing more than another story of how you hate trucking and you cant hack it because you arent willing to give it what it takes. -
Gunner75 Thanks this.

That sounds about right for a refresher.
