Well its christmas eve, im in ann arbor with a load of sheetrock for gypsum supply. This week has been one of uncertainty, with the holidays, they are trying to get everyone home either yesterday or today, some went home empty and will be home till after the first, others went home empty and will head out to get loaded on friday then back home, then others are going home loaded and staying home till they leave out sunday. Its a logistical nightmare trying to get 2500 drivers home. They wont send you very far, and loads pay crap. Friday will be 4 months for me with tmc as a solo driver. Its not been perfect, but I cant expect perfection from an industry that is based on how much the benefiting industry does on sales or how the construction industry does. I've definitely notice amount anad quality of freight fall off since mid November, but that was expected. My percentage amount has dropped off from my high of 29 to 27%. Thats due to a drop in freight, and I went home early couple weeks back for a serious toothache.
On another note, ive gotten a couple of job offers from different flatbed companies. I'm not considering leaving anytime soon. Like what I have here so far. Will give an update later on exactly what I'm doing for my Christmas load home or home empty. -
Hope everyone has a happy holiday.
ScottM and Rooster903 Thank this. -
I wrote TMC about their dedicated Texas route right up the road from me. I don't think I would be a good fit after reading this thread. After 8 years Military, 12 years Law enforcement and 5 years as a Security Contractor I just have a hard time with the rah rah rah cheer leading we are the best gung ho bs. Not banging your company just not for me, you can have professionalism in a relaxed atmosphere. If you are a F^*k up you get a camera in your truck? Yeah no thanks...... I appreciate you "Gunner" taking the time to write up your experience, it really does help folks make the best decision for them.

If you think about it from their side, these rigs cost anywhere from $150-170k. If you're going to be messing up their equipment, they're going to want to know how and why. That's not exactly pocket change, and that's not even including the load and the trailer or any other objects you damage. I had one and it drove me nuts. Came back from deployment and there it was. When the truck shook too much or u hit a big enough bump, it went off. I covered it up or just picked my nose haha.
PouringBeard Thanks this. -
Thanks for your service, and not really sure what you are talking about "I had one and it drove me nuts. Came back from deployment and there it was. When the truck shook too much or u hit a big enough bump, it went off. I covered it up or just picked my nose haha." I understand the equipment issue and there is always that one guy, don't be that guy. I know the kind of people they get into training nowadays all you have to do is go down to a Pilot and stand around for a bit. Finding good people is difficult, having said that you don't have to adopt a mantra with your company and training program like you are running MSR Irish or MSR Brooklyn back in the day. At least thats the impression I got. I spoke with a friend of mine who retired from Heavy Haul and he said if you like the military mindset then TMC is the place to go. There is nothing wrong with that, for me I can be a professional with out all the HUA.

I definitely know what you mean with the end of that. Lots of ego and I definitely fall into it sometimes. Mostly when people are ignorant or just dumb. I was talking about the rear facing cameras. They've been throwing them in rigs now. It's horrible. Tmc definitely rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but is also a good fit for a lot as well. That being said, I've seen a lot of special out there, and it just seems to be a plague unless you get the guys who've been squared away earlier in life. Too many people think they can just step in trucks and it'll do everything for them.

Exactly, I hate cameras what if I want to drive down the freeway in my underwear, eating cheetos and have an orange dick, why should the company have the right to know about that and be concerned LOLOLOL. I like low key, low stress melllowwwww. After 75,000 miles on the road in Icrak as one of those evil empire Blackwater Types I like calm and peace and quiet, and sometimes the occasional burst of BELT FED!
Ok I digress thanks for your response and have a good new years, stay safe hard charger.

Saw a beautiful long nose Pete tonight on I-70 east between Dayton and Columbus with some John Deere machinery on it.
Looked really nice! Truck was really clean.
