240?? Even been to a truck stop?

You are a feather in the wind compared to many of the drivers out there.

I saw one today that Im not even exaggerating, I bet was close to 500 lbs. And he was probably right around 6 feet tall. Scary.

Seriously??? What'd that guy do to put your knicks in a knot?

I follow a modified Atkins Diet myself...lots of salad and veggies, as much meat as I'm hungry for and easy on the carbs. At a buffet, I start with a big salad and fill the rest in with meats.

I lost 35 pounds doing this. Three years ago. I have maintained the same weight, give or take 5 pounds, since I took all that excess off. When I start eating more carbs, the weight starts going up....that 5 pound threshold is reached and I notice my clothes not fitting right. So I cut the carbs again.

My cholesterol went down, my mood improved with fewer swings, my energy level improved, my stamina improved, I have less acne, and I get to eat food that tastes good. I'm sure much of this is directly connected to the weight loss itself. But, I have noticed when I eat a lot of carbs in a day, I feel sluggish for the next three.

    Nothing "fad" about that.

Most of those buffet's have a lot of carbs. You can eat pretty much anything you want as long as you do it in moderation. If you go on a low carb diet you should see the pounds melt off your frame. Eat a lot of salads, vegetables and protein and stay away from so much of the carbs and desserts. I think one way many people gain weight is that they try to clean their plate, even when they are full. It is better to leave food on your plate if you are full. Drinking lots of water can also help flush your system. In fact, drinking a glass of water before eating can help you to eat less. I usually drink water with meals. Most of us don't drink as much water as we need. Plain water is best. I prefer tap water. We need water to balance our electrolytes and aid in digestion. For those who like to snack, try cutting up some veggies, such as celery or carrots. Fruit is also good. You don't need to refrigerate fruit so it will last a few days in the truck.

With all the new rules coming down and all the discussion about BMI, there could come a time when those who are fat or over weight could find themselves out of work in this industry. All they need to do is mention safety and you can no longer claim discrimination.

To the OP, what do tattoos have to do with your weight?

He's been a tattoo artist for all that time and says he didn't move around much. Sedentary lifestyle=weight problem for many.

Unless he has so many tattoos that the weight of the ink puts him over the threshold?:biggrin_2556:

Is your weight body fat or muscle? Muscle weighs more than body fat, and BMI charts don't take that into account. You can be a body builder and be overweight and unhealthy according to the BMI charts.

I am 6 foot and 240lbs myself. I have great bp though and used to lift a lot so I carry a decent amount of muscle. I want to lose another 25 lbs so I decided to run flatbed. I figure it's forced exercise! That 25 lbs I want to lose will put me around 215 which is considered obese on the height/weight charts but even at 240 I wouldn't say I was close tk obese. Eat slow carbs...no sugar..nonwhite flour products...that and aittle exercise and you will lose weight.

Give some of that weight to me, please as I could use it. I'm underweight at a mere 135 LBS. :biggrin_2557:

We DO NOT pick on misspellings around here. It is very highly frowned upon.

And since the Atkins Diet discourages carbs, you're encouraging it too. LMAO! Don't you realize Twinkies and sodas ARE high in carbs? LMAO!
