What's going my fellow truckers and soon to bes? As for me it has been a very interesting and enjoyable experience. It's been about a week or so since my last update so I figured why not. Well everything has been going great. No more late deliveries besides that very first one. In fact several of them I've delivered early. I've been getting awesome mileage from my DM. I purchased a microwave for my truck because that truck stop chow gets expensive and I found these little dinners at Walmart that are tasty and fulfilling. Their made by Hormel, check em out.
Anyway I got two little stories and I'm out til next time. So I'm up in MASS on the turnpike, which is the same as I-95N and I'm in the right lane getting on up the highway when out of the blue this very not smart driver decides she wanted to move from the exit ramp back onto the highway. No blinker, hand and arm signal or nothing. I guess she didn't look either cuz as she gets over the tail end of her car disappears from my view. No I didn't hit her but that's how close it was. I'm just glad that one, I was paying attention and two, I didn't have that 46659 pound load of water that I was on my way to pick up. The thing that bothered me the most was there was a little boy in the backseat. I was pretty shaken at the thought of what could've been.
That story leads to my second incident in the same day. I get off at the next pilot and attempt to gather nerves. I park and head inside to relieve myself and just calm down a bit. Well I come back out to get back on the road and some high speed steering wheel holder (and I say that because as a professional driver I would've at least tried to find the owner of the truck.) had backed into my mirror and broke the bracket on the bottom. I can still use the mirror but I want to hurry up and get it fixed so that I don't go thru a scale and get pulled into the barn for an inspection.
Thats all the excitement I have for now. Stay tuned...

I want to start off by saying thank you for posting the things you are going through with this company. i too feel that if u make the best out of a situation that things will be fine. my question to u is about day one. when it comes to the drug test what kind of test is it. hair or Pee.. i ask cause i been doing some research and i have found that hair test on ppl that have dark hair or red heads tend to come back under conflict. because of the compound that they test with dark hair and red heads get negative results a lot more. so do to my search results i will not take a hair test. only blood or urine. so witch is there test?

It's a urinalysis. Nothing crazy. Just pee in the bottle and that's that.

Well here's a short update as I ready myself for a good night's rest. I guess I'm earning the trust of my DM. I finally got a load in one of the five Burroughs of NY. Well it was actually a pick up. But I got it regardless. I went and picked it up and two minutes or so after I sent in my loaded call I received a message on the Qualcomm saying $50 xtra pay. It almost feels like robbery cuz I went in and picked up a 3000 pound load and it's going all the way to Memphis TN. I love it. Not only did I get an NYC load but I also got an 1100 mile load. Yeah buddy my DM is the sugar honey ice tea. See ya guys and gals later.
hal380 and bchawkins7 Thank this. -
I'm really enjoying your thread on Western Express!
JR80 Thanks this. -
Thanks man. I just got tired of all the negative posts about all companies so I decided to make a positive one.
bchawkins7, JR80 and NickA Thank this. -
Good read. Always remember to get permission from your DM for any accessories miles ( things like going to a shop). I've always asked for.anything over 30 miles (i don't work for western tho).

Thanks ANJ. Any words of advice are always welcomed. I don't move unless I clear it through my DM. Lesson learned after my very first day in my truck and trying to take the initiative. Even though I didn't get charged the out of route miles.

Are you still with western? Do they get you home when they say they're going too?
