While at the house I get a call that Monday around 1130 from my DM sayin I have a load picking up in Sarasota FL at 1400. I was like there is no way I'm going to make it there in time. She was like ok go get it in the morning.
That night I'm cooking one more meal for my brother and his wife when I get a call from some idiot at the company. I only call him an idiot because he acted as such. He falsely addressed himself as the VP of the company and commenced to grilling me about my location and the fact that I'm not from Miami and shouldn't be there. After I explained to him the reason and the approval from my DM. He tells me that I need to get to my truck because the windows have been busted out. I'm livid not only about the truck but the way I was treated by this turd claiming he's the VP when he's not which I later found out. Can't wait to meet him in person.
I get to my truck in about 30 seconds, woulda been sooner but there is a canal separating the lot where I parked from the back of my brother's house. There is about seven cops there and they have the two perps in custody. They couldn't have been anymore than 10-11 years old. I've never wanted to beat up any kids as bad as I wanted to get my hands on them that night.
I tape up my window and head on my way the next morning. I rode with the tape for a few days until I was able to make it to the Birmingham yard to get it fixed. I'm still working on pressing charges.

One more update for you guys and girls out there.
So I was supposed to be home for the fourth yet I sit at a truck stop in CT. My DM had sent out a message prior to me going home to FL. She stated that if anybody wanted to go home for the fourth they needed to let her know and they would have to keep running until then. Well I asked her if I would still be allowed to go even though I was going to FL. She said she would allow me to go cuz she takes care of those who take care of her.
Well Monday 1 July, I dropped a load in Tremont PA. I got a preplan sending me to Front Royal, VA. I was like cool they are working me to the house. Well I get another preplan to pick up in Front Royal and head to Taftville, CT. I contact my DM via Qualcomm to ask her if I should accept the preplan since I'm suppose to be going home. She responds with I didn't know you wanted to go home. I reminded her of our convo regarding the fourth and her was response was sorry she forgot. Notice I didn't give her answer to whether or not I should accept the preplan. That's because she never gave me one.
Anyway I accept it with the promise of we will get you home for the holiday. Well I deliver my load in CT and I still have no preplan. When I finally get the preplan it is for a pickup on the 5th and delivery of the 8th. Some home time huh?
Im not one to complain about getting home but I do complain about lies. If your intention is not to stand behind your word then I would rather you not say anything at all. I told my DM it's no big deal if she can't get me there just make sure that I'm running while I'm out here.
Well so much for that. Once again I'm sitting and will get a 34 hour restart in the middle of BFE. That's all I'm going to say because I'm getting upset all over again just thinking about it. Oh well it ain't all bad I guess. Our service members can't come home and they're getting shot at. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!hal380 Thanks this. -
Here's an update. I had to wait until I calmed down to post this one so I didn't violate the language policy. Lol.
Anyway after my last post you all know that I spent Independence Day at a truck stop instead of at the house with my fam. Well I go and pick my load on the 5th and head toward the house. I stopped at the Flying J on I-78 exit 10 so I could get a fresh clock for my run to the house. I wake up and hit the road about 0200. I made a fuel stop at exit 323 in Clear Brook VA. I get into town around 1015 and head to Walmart to drop my trailer. I knew I had a high dollar load so I went in and asked the management about their security cameras and where the best location for me to park would be. I was told to park on the TLE side (Tire Lube Express). I figured I had it all worked out since I didn't get any direction from the company regarding a secured lot to house this load since I couldn't deliver until Monday the 8th.
I get to the house around 1115 and I'm not there 10 minutes when I get a call in my phone asking if I delivered the load. I told the DM that I couldn't deliver until Monday and that I dropped it at the Walmart which is under 24 hour surveillance. He says you can't drop a high dollar load at Walmart. So I said where would you like me to drop it then. He says go get the load and I will call you back with a secure drop yard. I wasn't upset but a little bothered because I figured since I didn't have any word from the company and they knew I was going home which is why they gave me this load I did the best that I could in securing it. Well I guess my best wasn't good enough. I head out to my truck and I see a message on my Qualcomm saying "don't go home until you deliver this load-JE2"
i call the DM back to find out who JE2 is and am told he is the CSR (customer service rep) on your load. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. I said to the DM why would he send a message like this knowing that I would be fined if I delivered this load early. Mind you I used several more colorful words. The DM says to me don't curse at me I'm not in the mood.I commenced to really laying it on now. I asked him where he spent the 4th and how many hours had he been on the road today. He starts stuttering and says well you can't take a high dollar load home. So I say why would they give me one knowing that I'm going home. He says that's the only way they could get me home. I know it doesn't make sense to me either. Then I say to him I've been on the road since 0200 why didn't I get a message on my way home saying hey drop this load at this secured lot before you go home. His answer to that was, and I quote "we can't keep up with everything". I say WTF!!! He then says I sent you the info just take the load there and be done with it.
Guess what...He sends me the wrong ADDRESS!!! So I go to my trusty Qualcomm and say hey it would help if I had the right address, but I forgot you all can't keep up with everything. Lol.
Very long story short I figure out where to take the load which was another 37 miles away and then bobtail back to the house to enjoy my weekend with my family.
Sorry for the long read but I had to get this one on the board.
Be safe and take ya 30 minute mandated break. Lolamiller Thanks this. -
Good post man....this is the type of info that new guys need to see when they are thinking about coming into trucking. My trainer has the perfect motto "Hurry up and wait" lol
JR80 Thanks this. -

I remember those days in the Army my self. I've also seen it at a few factories I worked at including the one I work at now. Hurry up get this product out then run out of a part. Then get word there are some more pars coming they are in route on a truck expected to be here at such and such time. Mean while its wax on wax off to all the operaters. At leaste at this place I'm a tech I can either work on equipment durring such down time if it needs any work or PM's or just sit back and play around on the computer kind of deal.

Lol. Yeah I'm the king of finding things to do to occupy my wasted precious time. Lol

I just read this entire thread and smiled as you staid so motivated and positive LOL I was just waiting for the other foot to drop. So many start out like you and eventually will be worked over. 60 miles was to much out of route to go home WTF! I would of found a new job after that. That one incident speaks volumes about a company. They pretty much said that the $30 in fuel was to much to let you go home. I've gone 120 miles to the house approved no problem by my DM. All the positive stuff you wrote new drivers can ignore because you were in the honey moon phase of your employment/new adventure. A couple of months in and your advice or experiences become more realistic. Good luck to you rack up the miles and then start searching for a better place to drive for. You would be surprised what just 50k miles OTR experience can get you.
