I know the op wasnt meant to be funny, but it still had me laughing out loud!:biggrin_25514:
Hang in there driver, its hard knock learning.
"Keep backin til you cant back no more..."
Man I can just see that one.
All while trainer is playing with his phone, and scratching some nasty area on his stanky self :biggrin_2559:
Youll be in your own truck, and look back on this and laugh,or grit your teeth.

Who said I an OTR driver? I certainly didn't. The truck is where I work, not where I live. But just like OTR guys, I am required to log a 10 hour break after 14. And yeah, sometimes it works out where I'm lucky to get 4 hours of sleep before doing another shift. That's life, that's trucking, that's reality. Flame me all you like, but it won't change reality.

This can't be true, people really aren't this stupid? Why is it seemingly impossible for someone to think for themselves? If you have such little common sense as to actually back past the fifth wheel plate, I do not wish to share the road with you. This post must be fake.op

That's probably true, sitting in wild horse pass casino in Phoenix and thinking of becoming more active in this forum and read stuff like this and question why.

    1. Getting the proper amount of sleep as a new driver is one of the hardest things to do. You have to condition your body to sleep when your logbook says it's time to sleep. After awhile, your body gets used to not sleeping at the same time everyday.

    2. G.O.A.L. - This is one of the first things I heard when I got to school. When I was hired by my company, one of the first things i heard in orientation was, G.O.A.L.. After hearing G.O.A.L. so much, it's the first thing I hear in my head when I'm unsure about how close I am to something. You're better off pulling up, getting out, and taking extra time backing than you are hitting something. The drivers truck your about to hit will be grateful.

It concerns me that you took him at his word to back until you hear something, or until you can't back anymore. This job involves having common sense. You have to be able to male split second decisions based on common sense often. You have to be able to drive 500-600 miles on 4-5 hours of sleep more often than not, especially as a new driver. You may want to reevaluate if this is something you really want. It really does take a certain kind of person to be able to live out on the road, drive hundreds of miles a day,all in a safe, and positive manner.

If you decide you really want this lifestyle, I'd ask to go out with another trainer. Maybe then you can add onto what your previous trainer taught you. As much as it's up to your trainer to train you, it's up to you to make sure you can effectively, and safely perform your job. In a month from now, if you get into a situation, it's going to be on you, not your trainer.

    Red Hot Mess Thanks this.
