N.J. Newbie looking 4 HELP!!!

Keep looking and applying or relocate to another state. Better chance of getting a job with another state listed as your licensing state. Come on man, everyone knows that Jersey has the worst drivers aside from Massachusetts. Sorry just kidding, had to reply.

 

Good Luck to you and don't give up or just settle. I didn't go down the well traveled newbie route. I live in the midwest so there may be more opportunity. What I did was afterI graduaed I gave myself two weeks from the day i graduated to when I was scheduled for orientation with one of the newbie companies. In that two weeks I got up early and went in person to several local companies. I had a cover letter, resume, school transcript and a couple of letters of recommendation. I didn't check on line or by phone to see if they were hiring, I just went in person. Some shot me down right away, but many talked to me and were very helpful. In fact, I got a call at the begining of my second week from the ceo of a small company that wasn't hiring when I went in, but he called and gave me the name and number of a guy to call. I called and got a great job running with an o/o who used to team with his wife, but she wanted to stay home with the grandkids. I think it is awesome cause we run reefer, flatbed and even hoopers now and then. I am getting awesome training and good experience. I think it is more work than had I gone with one of the big companies, but well worth it. I think soon he is going to show me how he gets loads, we don't use QC and he works with a couple companies, really not sure how he does it. just know he keeps us busy.
