Want to build an N14 using N14 lower end, less cam and a BC 3 or 4 fuel system.
Am I nuts?
Were there any N14 mechanicals without STC?
N14 back to PT pump, no STC

I don’t believe any of the industrial ones I have seen were straight pt system…all stc. However the l10 and m11 were fairly common to be pt in the lower power and stc for higher ratings so possibly the n14 was also.
Stc system was cummins way of getting better timing control. If you go 3406 cat they have a good timing system although it does need rebuilt more frequently than I would like.
I am not so sure that regular pt injectors won’t fit in a stc n14 but you will need to disable the oil system and the fuel pump won’t care which injectors it’s running( a celect fuel pump will not work) -
What you’re gonna run into is the piston crown of the N-14 pistons won’t match any big cam injectors. They can be made to start and run but not right. I have known several people try…. All abandoned the idea pretty quick

BC3-4 rods are not the same on the small end but would the BC rods and appropriate piston run on N14 Crank? -
After studying the operation of STC I am of the opinion that the entire system could be done away with. -

BC crank would run in N14 block but it all falls apart at the rod journals.
Suppose could go that route and use BC rods, pistons right on up.
But the N14 is way tougher.
Thinking keeping it N14 STC just not using the STC valve and plumbing.
It only runs advanced at idle and low load conditions.
Use parts match per STC CPL.
Still in the planning mode for now but have a running N14 and a 400Hp BC at my disposal.
The N14 I have is celect. -
BoxCarKidd, Oxbow and Siinman Thank this.
