It would be better if there was a way to do it without doing that, but if there isn’t I’ll go that route

That deal pup is talking about is easier if your truck has one. Google search that connector and you will know what you are looking for.
spsauerland and pup Thank this. -
It"s where the fuel pump bolts to the compressor. between the pump & the block. spsauerland Thanks this.

The engine mounted diagnostic connector is normally bolted to a bracket that
attaches to the intake manifold above the ECM. It may have been removed
and tied up out of the way. Its a round 6 pin plug with a square flange. It was
supposed to be used for flashing the ECM.
Cummins said data could be corrupted flashing through the cab connector. Both could be used as a diagnostic connector.
I have never seen the connector in the cab either and I have been a truck mechanic for 42 years. The connector in the cab could be replaced with the one that the communication adapter uses. There are 4 wires used the twisted pair J1708 data-link and a 12 volt power and ground.Last edited: Jun 23, 2022
BoxCarKidd and spsauerland Thank this. -
Celect plus had the connector on the intake manifold. Early celect did not

The plug you’ve circled in that photo isn’t a datalink. Key switch, engine brake, coolant level & fan clutch wiring runs through that plug.
bjytech and spsauerland Thank this. -

I’ll keep looking, is there a possibility that someone has taken it off for some reason?
-
Early data link on Celect was just a 2pin weatherpack. You had to supply separate power and ground. Above your fuel filter in picture.
