It would be better if there was a way to do it without doing that, but if there isn’t I’ll go that route

That deal pup is talking about is easier if your truck has one. Google search that connector and you will know what you are looking for.

It"s where the fuel pump bolts to the compressor. between the pump & the block.

The engine mounted diagnostic connector is normally bolted to a bracket that
attaches to the intake manifold above the ECM. It may have been removed
and tied up out of the way. Its a round 6 pin plug with a square flange. It was
supposed to be used for flashing the ECM.
Cummins said data could be corrupted flashing through the cab connector. Both could be used as a diagnostic connector.
I have never seen the connector in the cab either and I have been a truck mechanic for 42 years. The connector in the cab could be replaced with the one that the communication adapter uses. There are 4 wires used the twisted pair J1708 data-link and a 12 volt power and ground.

I’ve looked and can’t find it there, if it helps the model on the engine is an 14-330E. The only hookup I see is the picture I sent earlier of the one beside the ECM. Have you ever seen that plug before because the mechanics I brought the truck too said they haven’t

The plug you’ve circled in that photo isn’t a datalink. Key switch, engine brake, coolant level & fan clutch wiring runs through that plug.

Makes sense when they tried hooking the computer to it that it wouldn’t fit, for some reason I can’t find the one at the pump. You’d think they would’ve known that they weren’t hooking to the right thing. They told me to take the ECM off and bring it to them and they would bench it, which I’d rather not go through the trouble of doing if I can find a datalink

I’ll keep looking, is there a possibility that someone has taken it off for some reason?

Early data link on Celect was just a 2pin weatherpack. You had to supply separate power and ground. Above your fuel filter in picture.
