Hello,
I have a 98 W900 with an N14 525 HP red top. It sat for a few weeks and now it wont start. It just cranks and cranks.
When I turn the key to the on position I'm not hearing any clicks. Usually the truck does a clicking sequence. I'm assuming this is the fuel shutoff solenoid. I wanted to check on here before I buy a fuel shut off solenoid. Not sure why it would just randomly stop working.

Sounds like you've lost ignition power to the ECM. Check ignition fuses in the fuse box, especially if it's rained.
Without ignition power, your ABS modulators also don't click, fuel solenoid doesn't get 12V.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
In my case it was harness problem that goes from batteries to the main harness and it connects behind the engine

Does that model N14 have a thumb screw on the pressure head the solenoid is mounted too. If it does. Turn that screw in to bypass the need for 12v and manually open the fuel shutdown disk. See if it gets fuel and starts. Then you know the electric solenoid is bad or power to it.

I think it has some relays in the battery box also.

Do the CEL & SEL cycle when you turn key on?
Rideandrepair and Heavyd Thank this. -
Tighten the battery cables. I know it cranks and cranks and tighten the cables sounds dumb as hell. But indulge me….I’ve seen it it time and again x 10 on some late 90’s T800’s with 365 red tops. When you hit start button the ECM loses power and she won’t hit a lick
Rideandrepair, Oldman83 and blairandgretchen Thank this.
