What is your take on using the dial indicator and the holder to back off the set bolt for the jakes? Looks like about $200 for the two.

Socket and big ratchet.
Also don’t forget to get new jake gaskets. Valve cover gaskets are reusable, but not jake gaskets. Make sure to clean all the old gasket off before installing new.HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
For dial indicator go to harbor freight and get a magnetic base disk indicator. It will work just fine and useful for other things. Out cost maybe 30 to 40 bucks

Ten4. Will I need the holder for the dial indicater? Or how can I rig the dial indicator to stay still and get a good measurement?
Sorry for asking so many questions -
The mechanic that does mine has one with a magnetic base.HopeOverMope Thanks this.

As far as the c-brake gaskets, should I put hi-tack on the corners of the gasket?

Ok so I finally got the gaskets. Had to go on a scavenger hunt today to find them. Need a 7/16 12 point socket to get the jakes off. Got them off, more tomorrow hopefully. Ran out of sunlight today. Ended up using a pipe wrench to bar the motor over.
