Hello All,
We have been trying to remedy this problem for a year now. We need some creative help. Between running the truck and repairing what we thought might take care of it, taking it to a few shops along the way, and trying our best to figure it out, we are still skipping intermittently. Sometimes the truck runs great...like it should...sometimes the truck will skip under a load. The best way to get the skip to stop is to come out of it (the throttle), get back into it, come out of it, get back into it, and then it will typically find itself and clear up.
However, if the truck is on a decent sized pull, this will not work. You have to breech the crest of the hill before the in/out technique will help to even it out. Sometimes it is more stubborn than others but typically it will even out and run as smooth as silk for hours at a time. There is no rhyme or reason to it but being under a load seems to provoke the problem. We have no computer codes currently, all injectors are firing as they should, we have replaced all fuel lines, we have addressed the restrictor plate behind the ecm, and yesterday we bypassed the fuel filter housing for about 80 miles to see if that might help the problem. It did not. No idea where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The injector harness was checked recently and it checked out fine.

Had a problem 2 times like this with an n14. First time was poor contact on ecm fuse which was inside the battery box. Other time it was a sticking injector due to dry ulsd. Remedy that time was adding some atf to the fuel . Hope this is of help. Doesn't feel very good when it happens does it.

If I remember right I bought a liter and poured half in each tank. The missing and jerking started to go away within an hour and by the end of the day it didn't do it anymore. -
I had the similar problem last year, except mine was at idle, the truck would shake, but no loss of power under load. We replaced a injector that my mechanic said was bad, but it still did it.
He thought it might me a flat cam lobe, but we found a bad Pass Through on the Injector Harness and adjusted the Valves. It's been fine since.
Have you tried swapping out the ECM with a known good one?68Goat Thanks this. -
Have not tried swapping the ecm...The last person or shop we took it to is known for being great with electronics. He did not feel like it was the ecm but we will consider suggestions that seem relevant. He also did not feel like it was the injector harness (checked it out thoroughly) but here's the deal. It comes and goes so it's hard to pin down anyway. If you had a bad pass through on your harness, wasn't it showing up as a bad code? That's the thing...we're not getting bad codes.

Have you replaced the EPS - engine position sensor, located on the left side near the front? Only about $35 and cured a similar problem I had. EPS is notorious for not having and engine codes show up when it starts to go bad.

Have not replaced the EPS. Is it possible that it could be intermittent for a year, though?
