Name that Peterbilt and transmission

Thank you. This picture was sent to me. I don't have access to the truck. It's a balance between not annoying the stunt coordinator vs getting the info. This particular coordinator is one of my favorites to work with but he is more old school and it would turn into a headache for him. You'd be surprised how asking for a Vin number would turn into 50 emails with multiple people involved. A general idea of what I'm walking into is great. I know I can drive the truck but I like to at least get an idea vs getting the exact info.

 

Can you be more specific as it relates to this?

I can tell you what occurred on that set doesn't occur on any of the sets I've ever been on in 10+ years of doing this. Every armorer I have worked with have been super safe, have multiple assistants and are on set overseeing everything. Not outside of a set with ammo just laying around unsecured. But that's another can worms.

 

I think I see what you're saying. The lack of rehearsal ect. It's not like I've never driven a truck. I've drive trucks, busses and garbage trucks ect on set very often. I've crashed some (on purpose) and it's my specialty. That being said, I would never do a stunt I wasn't comfortable with. And my boss wouldn't let it happen either. The stunt itself isn't too tricky. No one will be in the car but will be filmed to look like it there is. It's more of an inconvenience for me than a safety issue.

 

I can tell you a practical stunt will always look better than CGI. Especially for something like this. But CGI has it's place in certain instances. But to me the CGI is so obvious it's distracting. But I'm bias.
