NASTC Fuel Card

I've been running overnights all this week, so it's kind of a blur, but my memory is recalling either $2.48 or $2.54.

 

I guess I should qualify my statement. I run a dedicated route between Joliet and 60 miles west of st Louis. I'm in a situation that I'm not looking for showers or fancy amenities. I look for good fuel and friendly service and I mainly stick with Ambest fuel stops, they seem to be busy and get fuel deliveries daily or semi-daily.

I was fueling at the Petro in Wilmington or the TA in troy everyday, but at an average savings of $.16/ gal, and I average 130 gals per fill, that's $20/day or $100 for the week back in my pocket.

If I was OTR I might feel differently, but that's my situation.

 

The other thing to look at is the quality of fuel, the amount of bio deisle and other additives. For example, I know the TA in Rochelle has the #2 deisle with no bio deisle in it all. My truck loves that fuel, I'll get the best performance, fuel economy and power out of my truck. If I recall that circlek across the street has a bio blend which is usually why it's cheaper. Even that TA has one side of pumps that has a bio blend and the price is cheaper than the side with the pure #2 deisle.

My fueling preference is TA/Petro, Sapp Brother's, and ambest in that order. Pilot J just kills my fuel economy and power, loves makes my truck act stupid like it's on drugs and starts throwing gremlins until it's cleared out of the fuel system.

Not all deisle is created equal.

 

I have the exact opposite problem. Last year I only filled up at pilot, now that I'm with a different company, only Petro/TA our circle K and my mpg came down .5 mpg. I'm actually down over 1 mpg but I think I have something going on with the truck, I don't think it's all a fuel issue.

A lot if the time, the fuel trucks come out if the same facility, so it's not always different fuel between retailers.

 

Just like when you go to fuel your car at the pump you can select from regular, midgrade, and premium, the facility loader selects what gets loaded in each truck the same way.
