This looks like the best database I've seen yet! Yes, I've found that calling ahead is a good idea. Unfortunately, once these places get on the list they tend to stay on even if they're no longer in business. Thanks for posting it.

It's been my experience that the best tools for finding a local truck wash are your Mark V Eyeballs. Most of the ones I've found are usually some guy working out of a shed with a sign facing the road. That guy isn't going to pay to be listed in any of the directories, and someone else may be running their business in that shed next time you're through. NTTS and other directories have been nearly useless for me (finding/selling pallets as well) due to the frequent turnover of this type of service.

If you're near a shipper or receiver of messy product, there's usually going to be a couple of wash guys nearby. The CB or bugging your neighbor in the next dock can be useful for finding them, and most truckstops have a bulletin board somewhere too.

Yeah, even the consignee may have something. I once unloaded in La. and the consignee was taking his sweet time, but he had a garden hose on his dock and as he unloaded the pallets, I was washing out the blood etc. I only had to "floor mop" the last 4' when he was done.

That brings back a really good memory from a couple weeks ago. I showed up at a chicken plant at 0300 with a 0700 delivery appointment, dead tired.

This place has always been cool to work with, having picked up there many times before but never a delivery. Guard said their yard dog would spot the trailer so I could get some sleep if I didn't mind letting them. Sure why not? Dropped that sucker in the staging yard and went straight to bed.

Woke up mid day and caught up on email to use the rest of my 10. Day shift guard waved me right back in, no stopping (yeah been there too much LOL) and found my empty trailer. Before I even got stopped good the yard dog came around the corner. He wanted to re-use the tag they tied on my reefer. I'm thinking what's up with that. Turns out they had washed it out without me even asking and the tag was their marker for this one is clean. Not only that, but a disinfectant wash not just a rinse out. Smelled like laundry day back there. Completely made my day. Of course I thanked him, waved to the washout guy as I rolled out, and said something to the guard too.

This is a place that will never have trouble getting trucks in to handle their product.
