Who is your recruiter? If you don't mind let me know in private and I can steer you towards one I personally know to be extremely honest. Rider policy is 30 a month. Pet policy is 500 non refundable deposit. My dog will be taking a healthy dump in the sleeper birth before I leave. No toll or pre pass devices for the west coast but ipass is available for the drivers that venture out east of Colorado and the popular 11 west.

Quit them in december after 2 years. Had one of the new 680s the qc would mess up pretty regularly. That story about swift taking over is crap straight from upper management.Bean counters and fuel costs got the trucks turned down. I was dedicated when i quit. All in all they are not the worst company by far. Pretty middle of the road as far as truck companies go. Until the speeds got turned down that is. Hell i got passed by prime on my way to phoenix to drop truck off. Other driver was right about the dm situation. If you get a good one then you can make money but in the time i was there i went through 7 different ones. Some fired some i couldnt work with at all. Best thing i did wqs get in with the planners and route myself instead of waiting on loads..

Never sat around unless i wanted to. normally had a preplan on me before unloading was done after i called the planners for the area i was in. I didnt do the ne region by choice. They would try i would refuse and make a phone call and get a different load. Worked great for me. Never had any problems getting reimbursed for any money i speant on tolls, washouts, oil,or scales. No prepass but in all the time i went into scales i only had one inspection by the scales at donner. Had 4 different trucks there. 700, 2 660s and a 680. Last one had the apu from carrier. It had issues for the 1st month or so with running right but that was mostly due to settings in its computer.

Hometime did suck at in getting it. They allow 3 days. After that they want you back right then to drive to iowa and sit for 2 days waiting on load. Getting home on time never happened ever. Now i dont ask or require much time home but still would like to be home on the days i asked for well in advance but according to them there was no frieght moving through st louis whenever id try for hometime.

The OP has been driving 32 yrs. and probably going to Navajo. I have 30 yrs. behind me and wouldn't hesitate to go there if I wanted to go back to refrigerated trucking. Anytime you deal with refrigerated trucking there will be problems and that's usually with the shippers or receivers, not the trucking company. Sure, sometimes there's someone incompetent working in the trucking company office, but for the most part, from my experience with reefer trucking, the problems are with shippers and receivers. For example, frozen food warehouses don't have the space to pre-pull orders and stage them, then wait for a truck to show up; once the truck is in the dock, then they pull the orders. Same for fresh produce.
I wouldn't hesitate to go with Navajo, Holland Enterprises, Lessors or Freymiller. Freymiller bought Buel Inc.'s bankrupt company and aquired those good accounts running from the Southeast/Florida to Pacific Northwest & back.

What made me reconsider navajo is the fact that not all trucks are guaranteed to have an apu. Also was looking for at least .38 cents a mile for one year experience.

I'm not sure how long its been since you left them but I can assure you there is an association with swift. Otherwise we would not be pulling their trailers. I'm not saying you'll see it often but even seeing it once is a tell tale sign of association. No company the size of Navajo is going to allow a driver in their truck to pull a trailer with another companies name and logo in tact with zero association. Even the five truck wonders who buy old trailers for their mom and pop op from swift crst etc scratch off the logos and make the trailers look as inconspicuous as possible. Plus there's just too much coziness between the families of both swift and Navajo ceos to not point to something. That coupled with an adaptation of Swift policy by the management at Navajo is enough for me. In my opinion, if Swift didn't already have their hand in another reefer company see:central, im entirely sure we would see a much more open association.

december is when i quit and every year i did pull swift trailers via amazon dedicated loads where you take the trailer amazon gives you and they had some swift trailers there as well as xtralease trailers. and every year they have swift trailers on the lots in denver and tolleson for storage reasons. if theres an association with swift i feel bad for anyone still working there. its just gonna get worse in the future and it got bad enough with the speed reduction to get me out of there. i also saw navajo pulling ups trailers from arizona to denver on the amazon account
