well just a slight age difference--but me and my compadres have always called it that--of course the salts called it that when we got there--and yeah they have cleaned it up alot--especially since 911--since it is now a closed post--go through there quite a bit on the way up to Sanford NC--
but will always hold a very dear place in my heart!

SEALS & Green Berets are just the same. SEAL stand for Sea Air Land. And SF emblem has 3 lightning bolts that stand for the same thing. With the weird azzed "wars" we get into now days they all have had to adapt to the others specialty from days gone by. Few Recon guys have been lost other than in IED strikes lately. Same w/ Marines overall. They are getting killed on the way to the fight rather than in it. Not their fault at all. Just out of their realm. This has been and will always be a special operator war. This surge is a joke. Huge stocks of everything just sitting at KAF and BAF with no way to get to those in the field. And those in KAF and BAF sitting on their duffs and not really giving a sheat. I am home for 3 weeks so I can post what I feel. This fine soldier was lost during a re-dedication ceremony at our base. We have a wall of the lost that had 81 names on it. 12 more were being added for the men lost during 3 SF Grps time there.

This Green Beret had been in country 2 weeks. He was w/ 1st SF Grp and was stationed N of Tarin Kowt where I am. He was airlifted to our trauma center immediately , but they were unable to save him. 1st one we had lost since Sept when 7 were lost from our SOTF. He was in remote area where the standard vehicle is Toyota Hilux truck. Not SRAT or MRAP. Hit IED and was crushed by vehicle. These maggots rarely line up and fight our guys or gals. They would lose in moments and they know it. Just keep pecking away and being a pest. Get lucky once in a while and post it on their websites. Real tough guys.

While the SEALs are the kings hairy-assed he-man badassery, ya never really hear about the Deltas,do ya? Hmmm... My guess would be the more elite a military unit is, the more blackest of black bag operations that unit will be tapped for, therefore the less the general population will hear of that particular unit. Indeed, ya don't hear anywhere near as much about the Green Berets these days as you did back in the Eighties...

But I'd still rather have my move backed by Red Cell...if they still exist, that is.
