I doubt that you purposely aimed for a pole. You cut your wheel, you lost control of your beater, you hit a pole. That was wrong move regardless of what you were driving.

Not meaning to be buster, but you lost control of your vehicle. You instinct is to cut your wheel in an emergency. If you had the choice of hitting a dog or hitting a pole, you would have aimed for the dog and accelerated.
If you owned a truck, who would you rather hire...the driver that hit 5 dogsthat ran out in front of him OR the driver that hit a pole because he cut his wheel trying to avoid hitting a dog? -
To answer your question, and not indirectly poke around that im better than you, clean driving record means it is not suspended or disqualified or anything of the nature, not that you have never had a single moving violation or accident.
