Then...just when you think you on your way home, the DM says, "could you PLEASE do me a favor, I really NEED you to do this for me...I'm counting on you!" and away you go 1,000 miles in the other direction! LOL!

A follow up on my original post:
I've completed my first 90 now. I was on the $90 for 90 days program, and my settlement for miles driven was a bit over $300. I've had 2 broken trucks so far and I'm now in my 3rd truck which limped back into town with regen issues. I've spent a lot of time sitting around because May didn't want to pay to fix whatever was broken. After my original truck, both "new" trucks had been occupied by smokers - the 2nd even came with an ashtray that was overflowing with cigarette butts. Issues with home time have continued, even though I've raised hell about it. Was in Layton on a Tuesday, was supposed to be in Denver on Thursday - so of course the natural thing to do was to send me West. -
dude... get on your DM's butt... i remember when there were good DM's in denver, my first 2 always had me home on time. being in layton theres no reason they couldn't have gotten you to denver... its a one day trip (not even but you know what I mean) and finding a repower out of layton to get to denver shouldnt have been that hard, in 2 days. and as far as the cigarettes, if you are a non smoker tell them to clean the truck out. I know they only get that guy like once a week or something but they should be cleaning the trucks out before they give em to ya. I just dont understand that company... they have awesome equipment, better than most of the stuff we have here at the company im with now (minus all the new trucks they got the past few months) but the trailers out here are sooo crappy. HOWEVER, my truck is a 2006, I've had it since february, never needed oil yet, never broken down. I was with may in a 2012 pete, needed a gallon of oil once a week, was in the shop like 6 times, and all because they don't want to give you what you need which most of the time those trucks are going in due to DEF issues and running it so low. Why have good equipment if they arent going to take care of it, those trucks dont run on hopes and dreams. and they dont care if it goes into the shop cause most of the time its warranty stuff, only person loosing out on anything is the driver. dont know how many times I was left in a parking lot for days before they would get me to a shop, glad I don't have that problem anymore. Good luck... just remember, do your time, learn (both driving and what you DONT want your next company to be like lol) and then find something that suits you better
secorp and skootertrashr6 Thank this. -
Latest update:
I'm on day 26 of my current trip. I've spent 10 full days sitting still, due to breakdowns, bad planning that left too much slack time on a trip, or just simply waiting around for a dispatch. I have begged, pleaded, updated my availability daily, and done everything short of threatening to quit or do bodily harm to someone. Additionally, the days I've been running have been short - either due to short trips, or having too much time to get where I'm going.
In the months of May and June combined, I drove a total of 12,000 actual miles. So far, in the first full week of July, I've driven less than 1,000 miles.
My DM regularly forgets to pay me for layover or breakdown, even after repeated reminders from me.
When I'm running, I get where I'm supposed to be on time and/or when I say I'll be there. I'm polite, professional, and respectful with people at the company, and with customers. I'm clean cut and well spoken and don't give people a reason to doubt or mistrust me. Whatever is going on here, it's not a situation that I've created.
I'm only thankful that I don't have a pile of bills to pay, or monthly rent someplace. Working for this company would've had me evicted by now, and they wouldn't even get me home to be able to clean up the mess.
I'm ready to walk away and work elsewhere, but with how little money I've made I can't afford to eat/live during whatever transition period that would require.
