    Agreed.

Yep, none here, either. Long time, no fails. I agree, tbh.

I just try to be a beacon... and it's not my place to.

I honestly do not find it too painful, some folks just need telling, and no amount of training or experience will make a driver out of them, it is what it is.
I do not know the OP from Adam, and maybe he can get his head out and straighten up, but he sure got off on a bad start.
I just had a guy leave here (young guy) , his company had him follow me up his first two trips, now he has switched companies and they have had him run some with other trucks along. He has lost a driveshaft the last two trips, so they are taking him off the haul road for a bit, best thing that could have happened, I am thinking.

Yeah, I already have my '37 Chevy, the one my grandfather bought in 1937. My very conservative grandfather who never drove fast (my grandmother was the opposite she had the tickets to prove it), who traded in his 1925 model T for the down payment on that Chevy, he had a brand new GMC straight six with a four speed put into it the day he took delivery of the car. The dealer was my cousin's place so he got a huge discount and there was a rumor he was working with some friend of my cousin at Ford who was connected to Bennett. While he worked for Ford and could not drive it to any Ford plant he worked at. One day I asked him why the new engine and trans, I never got a reason why he did that but the words "well .... you wouldn't understand". The car has a lot of torque and is fun to drive.

It takes quite a bit to lose a shaft. THAT would be one story I am interested in hearing someday. Its a good decision to take him off after something like that.

I do notr know about 37, but in the fifties the jimmy had a 270 with split manifolds that was a popular swap, and had quite a bit more going for it than the 216 chevy.

I don't know about quite a bit, I couldn't count the number of thrown shafts I have seen.
The funniest one one was a guy at 4 in the morning called on easter sunday. I told him I MIGHT know where I could get one built today, but no reason to be in a hurry, as I couldn't get anything done till later in the day. He then ask if I could come out to the chicken house and drag him off of their scales. lol

Ive always enjoyed the older cars growing up as a kid. But all of the parents disposed of all them too fast. Its only fair to say they did not have a concept on how some of them would accumulate outrageous sums of value later in life. Its always good to see the older vehicles running.

    But not always.

A uncle had in possession a Ford two door which was a form of a Monarch that was not the best. To sit in it and ride is to understand the ... crapithbox you are in. Its NOT bad.. just bad... Step on it to get into beltway traffic? Transmission pauses a minute and spins the converter then hesitates to move out in pulses as you crawl out at 15 slowly rising to 20. It's not worth dying for.

One was a big rig. Had about a 460 gasoline engine in it. To this day I don't understand how you can wind out that blowby shack and still keep the pan. When you finally let off the horsies to make a shift it wants to explode as it comes down in RPM. And tries to.

Boss says one time you want to take that old thing for a spin?

I back away oh no.. not today. maybe someday. And what does he do? Stick me into it 2 bad connecting rods making music and all as it provides powersteering one last time being towbar'ed to the farm. Not doing that again either. we got away with it that day.
