I’m currently rewiring a ‘71 359. I get about 2 hrs a day done on it between regular job and bed. This will be my 4th complete rewire and the last 3 took well over 100 hrs. each. Mostly because the old stuff have no harness resources and they have to be custom scratch built.
Just passing this info so you can get an idea of the man hours involved.

An electrician works on AC power, not vehicle DC systems. A lot don't know the proper way to install or repair vehicle wiring.

You want a heavy truck/equipment mechanic.

Siinman, Dino soar and JolliRoger Thank this.

Seen a lot of marettes and other household wiring junk used in cars/trucks by people who don't know any better.

I opened up the dash on an old autocar once that was all wire nuts for splices.

I've seen marettes in mirror lights, a line of scotch clips in a single turn signal circuit. Even seen solid house wire and extension cord pieces used.

    RedForeman and SmallPackage Thank this.

Hey I use extension cord all the time! Works great for new lights or replacing a long section of factory harness. It's cheap and has good protection from elements

Dino soar, Bean Jr. and AModelCat Thank this.

Most of the truck manufacturers back in the day used Romex type extension cord for the runs to the back of the frames and up to the headlights on the fenders. It was mostly gray in color just like what was used in house wiring except it wasn't solid core.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.
