The two best pieces of advice you were given was to get your truck as close to the side of the building as you can or get inside if possible. Terrible time for the stores not to be open 24/7.

I was told by my trainer the best place to be in a direct path of a tornado is tightly parked in between other trucks. He said yes your truck will get tossed around if you get directly hit and so will all the trucks around you but it will prevent you from being completely tossed around like a ragdoll and thrown out into a field somewhere because you’ll just slam into the other trucks in them and to you. It won’t be able to get enough momentum to destroy you.
You’re honestly pretty safe in the cab of a loaded truck -
As said, restroom. The light weight steel engineering is a death trap. Small fire on the ground can produce enough heat for a roof collapse.
