And for reference, Ive been pulling an end dump for years, just a dump truck with more wheels, and I’ve never considered my job “rock bottom”. Feel free to come give it a try sometime @Ex-Trucker Alex and tell me how the skill involved in dumping this equates to rock bottom. IMG_0976.jpeg

Would you like to think about that just a little and maybe re-word it? You either don't know any rock drivers or you haven't been around them long enough and paid enough attention to what they do to form an accurate idea of what it takes.
Are there bad rock truck drivers? Absolutely, just like any other kind of trucking. Most of the ones I work with are excellent drivers. Don't condemn the whole bunch just because you're too quick to judge.

Weather doing dump , fuel , reefer , van , if you wont / cant take the time to just walk around the thing , making sure tires , flaps and lights are there and working , then you got to start doing it. I kick tires , check levels , run the flashers And turn signals , and make sure all i need is there , and so do the guys i work with. A level 1 is just a walk around basically and if they - DOT- write it up as a warning , you get a copy and company too. And it goes onto your psp which most companies youse to submit to Ins.
Just do a insp , fix prob, then insp again. Just writing it up does not fix the issue.

@Jaythetrucker90 You said you want this dump truck job, right? And you said the guy already said you're hired, right?

So make sure you do a really good inspection on that truck every day before you start rolling, and don't drive it if it won't pass a DOT inspection. Driving in and out of pits, quarries, and job sites can be really hard on the equipment.

The longer you stay at this job with no tickets and no accidents, the better you will look to the insurance companies the next time you apply for another job.

Seems I've struck a nerve. At least up here in Upstate NY, whenever the DOT sets up a checkpoint, it's mostly the 3 and 4 axle dumps which get put out of service.
I once considered a local job driving dumps, until I saw the deplorable condition of their trucks!
