I love this. People never hear good things about a company. Just the bad. There is nothing wrong with working at CRST or anywhere else. I was told in my rookie year to stay out of truck stops. That's where the gripers hang out the most. I even take that attitude when I go to the terminal. The minute I hear the whining, that's when I say I gotta get somewhere
I dont hear too much whining at FFE. I hear a little sometimes, some guys will comment they need to make more money, but its usually not outright griping. I dont know how it is on the KLLM side, but the majority FFE guys seem to be content. Theres plenty of whining about codrivers, but thats a different issue. They probably just complain but never let dispatch know there is an issue. They seem to take codriver complaints seriously for the most part. Because two drivers that are not synergizing can become a safety problem. They have strong and soft personality category they put drivers in. They dont like putting strong personalities together. Since I get put with a lot of strong personality types I guess I'm on the soft side. Lol
You may be screwed. When you signed thar contract, you agreed to a non compete provision. If you go to a different company, CRST will send notice to that company informing them of the non compete clause. And threaten legal action against them. There have been several posters here complaining about getting let go from companies because of this. I think think this non compete thing was legal but it apparently is. CRST sued Swift about this and won a $15.5 million judgement. Swift Ordered To Pay $15.5 MILLION In Damages For Recruiting CRST Drivers
OP, this is coming off less as "help me" and more "help me almost-scam the company I signed a contract with."
There are hundreds of tech schools that offer CDL training. Many other company financing schools too. To sign something like this to me sounds a bit crazy. What happens if you happen to test positive for drugs? Or after starting they remove you for cause. Will someone be able to go to another school? The lack of information out there really makes me sad.
I think maybe if I get cranky in Orientation and tell the staffer I aint signing a #### thing. See how well that goes over. CRST has always been difficult for decades, I recall having to deal with them in PA and it was a mess then and cannot be that much better now. Im just happy I never got any more involved with them.
I agree with you about FFE. I have only heard one person complain and it was about miles, but when they offered him to do local or regional while waiting for a linehaul load he refused. Stating that "I don't do city driving" I just quietly walked away. They were offering him miles, it just wasn't what he wanted.
You do know that the non-compete clause is pretty illegal, the case that swift lost wasn't based on the contract between crst and the driver but the claim of pilfering drivers interfering with the contract. The decision would have been against CRST if they went after drivers and they knew that so they attack swift. I have been threaten before when I hired drivers who were contracted with another company since this verdict was announced, I told them to stick it up their ********** see you in court. I never heard anything from them after that. The reason I don't worry about it is the fact I didn't do what swift was doing, i don't chase drivers. If a driver who is a licensed by the states under fed rules decides to go somewhere else to do a job that carries no access to customers or company secrets, it is the company's problem.
