Doesn't matter. When was the last log class you sat in with C seats or students?

Are you such a defender slash cheerleader that you have to make up stuff to make Prime look a tiny bit better in this situation.

Prime's problem in this situation is not that a QC PIN wasn't protected, (it doesn't have to be) but that they trust their instructors/trainers to do whats right and not drive on their student/trainee's logs.

No one is ever told to keep their QC PIN secret from their co driver, trainer, or instructor. (Yes you keep your COMDATA PIN secret, and you'd have to be a dummy to set it the same as you QC PIN.)

PINS are not handed out in logs classes. 99 percent of the time they are handed out in front of the instructor or trainer. We take our trainees over to our fleet's log auditor. Introduce them, get spare paper logs, and can easily see and hear both the Driver Code and QC PIN given to our charges. The auditor never mentions secrecy and usually tells the guy to make sure that their instructor/trainer will show them how to log in. If they are right out of orientation they have to have 7 days of paper logs filled out and scanned in before they leave town. Most of the log auditors call it "home work" and again instruct the trainer or instructor to show them how its done.

Yes, it does involve TNT trainees when you have a C seat trainee.

The only thing that PIN can do is stop someone from driving on someone else's clock. Everything else anyone can change except actual logged drive time.

Very simple for a trainee to report. "This log is not legal, I was not driving." Students and trainees are responsible for their logs. The one big rule and there is no question its illegal, is having someone drive on someone else's log.

Every student/trainee should be reviewing and approving their own logs. They may have questions about why some evolution is logged one way or the other.... However you can't change drive time, and there is no question as to what was going on. The logs show that you drove, if you were not behind the wheel, there is no question that is not right.

Other than driving, everything else on logs can be changed. Trainees/students should either be walked through and explained how and why these non driving entries are logged or they observe how these changes are made by watching the instructor... still getting an explanation. Students and trainees are required to hit the approve button themselves. if they have any questions or concerns then they ask for further explanation to their satisfaction, or they can call logs and ask if they have a legal concern they aren't comfortable with or don't understand.

Ive had probably 2 dozen students and trainees. Ive never had a student or trainee tell me they were told they shouldn't give me their QC PIN. On my truck it gets written in the Fuel book right next to my own for easy reference.

Anyone who has teamed or team trained knows why its very helpful to know each others PIN to log in and out at shift swap. If not done right, the big problem is ACCIDENTLY driving on the other guys log... Also the on coming driver can lose up to 5 minutes of drive time if he's not paying attention and logs in as the active driver right before pulling out... the off coming driver can think he logged a 15 minute post trip, some break time and then discover he's got a chopped up "frankenstein" entry that he has to go back and change.

Besides the only thing the PIN does is change an inactive driver to active. "Active" driver is simply where all the drive time is assigned by the computer. It doesn't care who's in the seat. Thats where Prime's trust comes in with its people.

Yup trainer sounds like an idiot, any chance he's a Puerto Rican guy in a black truck with silver tiger graphics? Sounds a lot like my first trainer, guy was a freaking idiot...get off the truck ASAP, he is breaking federal law driving on your clock, you aren't learning jack if you don't drive, as you should have been, being TNT means you should know enough to drive to the 01 and the 90...

Remember the end goal...solo. Forget prior situation, your next trainer doesn't care...learn, listen, pay attention...complete.

Now I'm curious that we have some people from Prime on this thread, what are the incentives for Prime Trainers?

Roehls pretty much eliminated any incentive for a trainer other than performance based on having a quantity of trainees in a time period. Other than that it's a daily flat rate, pass fail or otherwise plus all truck miles. Truck miles really means nothing, It really doesnt matter to me if I'm driving or sitting in seat two, I'm in the truck and I'm not at home. I would drive those miles anyway if the trainee wasn't there. We don't select trainees, they are assigned and we are asked if we want one or not. We get normal loads with a little more time on them generally to allow for training.

Believe me, some trainees understand what can or does go on. It's like buying a fund, is it a loaded proposition or based on performance??

PSD trainers, thats the trainers that work with the Students to get their CDL, get bonus's depending on how well their students do when testing out. They really dont get alot of extra miles as they are running the truck like a solo driver. They could run a "Super Solo" situtation, but that doesn't happen much was my expeirence.
TNT Trainers, are set up to run basically a team operation after the trainee gets more comfortable with the truck. Chuck is the one to ask about that as he TNT trains, I did PSD training.

    elog thingys???????????????lol
Just curious, do these e-log thingy's have a password for each driver ? Why cant you just "Logout" if they do ?
Is this a case where you are being trained by an L/O ? probably a bad scenario right there -especially if he is going broke.
