Had to lay my truck over in VA after cresting a hill on a country highway at highway speed and finding a school bus loading up kids on the other side early morning. Made the decision that there was no stopping what was going to happen and had to take the truck into the median which was also a 7' deep drainage ditch. Kept the truck up right for a few seconds but once those trailer tandems dropped in what was going to happen happened and the trailer pulled me into the ditch. So... I need some lines on trucking companies that may still hire me. I'm fighting Western Express off with a broom currently but they're probably going to end up being my saviors. No tickets, citations, warnings, failed DOT checks, nothing, my record was clean up until this point. 21 moths of driving experience. Also this was a non hazmat wreck, I was loaded down heavy with some coffee.

You could do a lot worse than Western Express.
    You gotta start over somewhere
    Good luck

If Western Express will hire you, better take the job. I don't know of any other company that will hire you.
Maybe Super Ego, but that one's very iffy.

For any future drivers that may see this post in the same circumstances as me. So far Contrans Flatbed would've hired me but I've stayed off driving for a year since the accident and they need a year of recent driving within the last 15 months so I've kinda boned myself. Walpole also would hire me with board approval but I'm 3 months short of their 24 months requirement.

I 2nd the advice of taking whatever you can get. If rehabilitation of your career is what you're seeking, then you'll do whatever it takes.

If there is a grass median or barrier (BUT NOT A TURNING LANE or CENTER LANE) between your lane and the school bus on the other side, you don't even need to stop whether the bus had the lights and stop sign out, or not?

If road looks like this, you have to obey school bus stop sign/lights both directions. If road has grass median or barrier (instead of pictured turning lane) between opposite direction traffic you only have to stop on same side as bus, not opposite direction.

I think he means the bus was in his lane. “The other side” refers to the other side of the hill I think. So it wasn’t the other side of the road
