    NO ARC-5's are junk .....

    The HTX-100 was and is a entery level radio .... just like the HTX-10/MAG257 ...
    I own several HTX-10's and run them as toss in the car 10 meter radios
    They are bare bones but in a car work just fine .....and will do FM less the tones for repeaters ....

    The HTX-100 CAN NOT BE MODDED to go outside of the 10 meter band. Trying will kill the radio. It may look like other radios to you but inside it's not. Let us know when you're going to bury it.

    The HTX-100 is a close relative to the Uniden/President HR 2510/2830/2600/Lincoln line of radios and can be modified to transmit outside of the ten meter band.American SSB'ers/freebanders turn their nose up at these because they only came with USB, but the majority of international freebanding is done on USB.
