You might check with Ryder. I don't know if they still do it or not, but several years ago I was able to rent a tractor/trailer for a move. Of course, at the time, I was working for a company that leased from them, and I knew the folks at that Ryder outlet.

The other thing you might do is check with your DMV where you will take the test. They may be able to point you in the right direction.

Check around for a local company, not a major outfit, they may rent you a truck just to take your test in. Sometimes they even deliver the truck to the test site. I know of one company where I live that will let you rent their truck and trailer for $125.00 and deliver it to the DMV for you, you just take it back to them when you get done.

You should contact a driving school that is about to have the students go out for their tests. Im sure for a smaller fee than school they might let you go with and use their truck n trlr.

I remember a school or two that would rent the truck to you for the test in Ga, but it was $400+. I guess I'm going to have to stop being a cheap skate and bite the bullet.

there are companies in the phone book and on line that will rent you a tractor and trailer to take your test in. you have time to get familiar with the unit and then take the test.

Penske will rent a day cab for around 125 per day, the smallest trailer that they have is 48ft. I just spoke with them about this myself the other day

Penske told me they only rented to companies, no individuals were allowed to rent.

are you going to be an O/O? if so then open a business checking account,or obtain a local business license to prove to them that you are not just any Joe off the street. If you plan on working for a company , then there is virtually no one that would hire you to drive their trucks with no schooling/training
