Was there a reason given for the GPS ban? Is there an underlying issue?
-
none given, but i am aware of a few trl. toppings re:newbies following such devices. as well as being on roads, non truck route. -
GPS "ban" was due to a rookie following his "automotive" GPS
and topping a trailer and NOT reading the signs. As for "taking"
my GPS--not gonna happen..Something about the 4th amend. comes to mind, plus a grand theft charge.........
-
The qc message I got said all non truck specific gps units would be mailed to
your home. -
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want some moron with a non truck GPS driving anyway. I don't blame them. You CAN use truck approved GPS systems. They don't steal it...they would mail it back to your home. If you are that big of an idiot to drive with a non truck GPS, then you get what you deserve.

I am interested in talking to other lease operators or FORMER lease operators with May Trucking.
-
my gps is non truck specific, and i have managed 20 months w/out topping a trl. does this make me a idiot ?
-
Not necessarily but if you get it taken away and shipped back to you, don't ###### about it. I think using maps and actually reading the signs on the road are obviously must do's and you obviously do that. However, it seems like a lot of newbies are relying too much solely on the GPS and in such cases, yes...they need to have a truck specific unit. I don't think it has to apply to all drivers.
