Need advice about wage for O/O

Hi guys! Can someone advice me, how find an company who will pay on time? I worked as leased O/O for the guy from BC who paid me late and just part of promissed money. Last 6 months I worked as leased O/O for Ontario company D4Transport from Georgetown. He paid later, later, never has money for fuel and then completely stop. I quit on May 30 there and he still owes me money for 2 loads ON - AB. Some advice how get my money? He did not send me my registration eigther, so I was not able get other job with my truck .... I wrote the letter to Ontario MTO, they will send me a replacement but I do not understand how this guy can afford do this........ I have to do something wrong. Can someone advice me, when I start work for someone and they will tell me that first pay is after 1 month - how I know that I will get really paid? I do not want drive again as idiot long days and weeks without any income .......... Thanks!
